Could Ahmad Gardner go in the top 3, there is some rumbling that Lovie Smith could be seeking to bolster their secondary early and the offensive line in both second and third rounds. Chance is they double dip CB, SAF with 3rd & 13th picks.

The Panthers have spoken to several teams about moving down from No. 6. Following No. 6, Carolina won't be picking again until No. 137. The Panthers have no draft resources, so it's not a surprise that they want to trade down. The problem is that teams aren't dying to move into the top 10 of a mediocre-at-best draft class.

The Falcons are one of the teams in the top 10 that have a premier grade on Jermaine Johnson. The Falcons desperately need an edge rusher, and Marino expects them to have interest in Johnson at No. 8.

The Seahawks really like Tyler Linderbaum, Ed Ingram and Zion Johnson. Jamaree Salyer has also gotten their attention. Linderbaum would be a bit of a reach at No. 9, but Ingram and Johnson would be excellent picks in the second round to improve the offensive line. Salyer makes more sense in the third frame.

All signs point to the Eagles zeroing in on Jordan Davis or Devonte Wyatt at 15. Defensive tackle is definitely a need, with Fletcher Cox returning for just one year.

Kenny Pickett could be the Saints' "guy" in the 2022 NFL Draft. Pickett could fall if the Panthers and Falcons don't want him, and the Saints could make sense if they love him. That said, the Saints seem to believe they can win now, which conflicts with selecting a quarterback in the first round.

"The Bears sent their WR coach to Cincinnati today to see Alec Pierce and not Ohio State. Pierce is a more likely target than the Ohio State receivers. Pierce is a local guy and they can bring him in for a private workout if they do desire." With no first-round pick, the Bears don't really have a shot at Garrett Wilson or Chris Olave. The receiver-starved Bears could target Pierce in the second round.

Nearly every mock draft has the Jaguars taking either Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson or Georgia defensive end Travon Walker first overall. Jaguars General Manager Trent Baalke allowed Friday that the team is considering four players for the choice.

Baalke wouldn’t name names, obviously, but offensive tackles Evan Neal and Ikem Ekwonu could be the other two names on the team’s list of top prospects.

The New York Jets coaches see the film on Thibodeaux, see the potential, and feel they can coach the best out of him. Front office people see the red flags and want to back off.

Right now it’s about 50/50 as to whether or not Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean ends up in the first round. While he’s a first-round talent, the position he plays is not one sought out late in Day 1 as teams would rather use those picks to select a cornerback, receiver, or quarterback to ensure they get the fifth-year option.

Cross is the top offensive tackle on some boards around the league, and many teams rate him ahead of Evan Neal. No one I spoke with expects Cross to get past the Carolina Panthers at No. 6, something I reported last month.

Kyle Hamilton continues to fall. Many in the league tell me they think Hamilton ends up somewhere between picks 15 to 20. That’s still later than I expected and is a precipitous drop for a prospect still graded by some as the top player in this draft.
