Speaking of fuzz tone, check out this one from a great young guitarist, Grace Bowers. I've seen some of her work and she blows away a bunch of folks on that RS list.

Seems fitting that Charlie Parr and Bob Dylan are both from Duluth, Minnesota. Parr's music is worth checking out. It makes you feel like you still reside in a bygone era. Great folk and slide player.

This one is a major miss: Louie Shelton, a member of the famed Wrecking Crew of session musicians. As an in-demand guitarist, Shelton played on songs by a ton of noted artists. Here's the list from Wiki. Wow.

Marvin Gaye, Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Boz Scaggs, Gladys Knight & the Pips, the Jackson 5, Neil Diamond, John Lennon, Barbra Streisand, the Carpenters, the Mamas & the Papas, Glen Campbell, Ella Fitzgerald, the Partridge Family, James Brown, Diana Ross, Otis Spann, Whitney Houston, Joe Cocker, Kenny Rogers, Henry Mancini, Dave Grusin, Quincy Jones, Lalo Schifrin and Victor Wooten.[5] He played the guitar solo on Lionel Richie's hit "Hello", Boz Scaggs's "Lowdown" and David Gates' "Do You Believe He's Coming".

One example of his dexterity on the instrument:

Not sure if Ace and Paul rate inclusion on the list. But reading some of the comments in the article below, a bunch of tremendous players pinpoint Ace as an influence and praise his solos.

Just read this interview with someone on the list, Keith Richards. Some cool stuff within, especially if you're a fan of The Stones.

A personal favorite, Colin Hay. Great singer-songwriter and player. One of the most beautiful songs ever written:

this is a lot of work following all of this, yeesh :)

Really getting down the list here. Rule of thumb is that when you get down to Mark Farner or Erik Brann, that's about it

Who's a better guitarist, Mark Farner or Lou Reed or the Deal Sisters who made the list?

kinda sorry I brought this up, now I can't get Inside Looking Out out of my head

speaking of meh players, remember Vinnie Martell from the Fudge? Saw him a few years ago and he apparently has been practicing all these years. He's pretty good now. They still play live with the original guys without Bogert (of course) but with A LOT of black hair dye. Now that was an infuential band, at least on LI when I was a kid. Play covers your own way and trade that Farfisa for a 10,000 pound B3 and a 4,000 Leslie (yeah thanks for that Mark)

Now I have that fuckin' song in my head, too. lol

Great add with Martell and Vanilla Fudge. What a band. They influenced so many, especially with the guitar over the powerhouse B3. The late Ken Hensley (another monster B3/Leslie player) has said Uriah Heep were mega fans of VF and were influenced by thier sound and vocal blending, something Heep took to another level in the 70s.

I have a question for you two experts......Why when the talk about great guitarist is it always the six string guitar.......Why not the air Guitar? I can put on a real top show.....I play with both hands & my feet & my teeth. They always leave me out.

No but really for a few seconds let me be sincere why not the 12 string guitar? Really or 24 string.....these are my favorites & only a few players play them really well. Why does the six get all of the credit? Ant Phillips is amazing on one & plays it as a lead 80% of the time
