The point is that no one is not telling you to stop speaking the truthTruth be told, this board has a good bunch.

I'll add you too since it seems "truth" seems to be the word of the day

"Is truth unchanging law"

Couldn't resist

it might be smarter to keep him on the roster for this year IF we can not find someone to be the BRIDGE to whomever is the successor ie; Bryce Petty or 2016 Draft Prospect...

that being said to keep him for next season then let him leave in free agency he will sign for some kind of contract and we can get a return on his waste of a draft selection to allow this regime to use said draft pick to acquire something relevant in the future...

As much as I hate hearing this it is all true.....Plus the one in 20 chance that at his age he really does become a real QB????? He is young & has some tools......it does happen once every 20 years...Jim hart & Jim Plunkett etc

you're right, smith is still young & not without tools.. he does a nice job showing off his tools when he's wearing a red practice jersey/pre-season/low pressure regular season games..

but for all of the solid tools smith has, he panics when the lights get too bright for him & is in the bottom tier of getting a pass off.. & to make matters worse, after taking forever to get rid of the ball he tends to make awful decisions in & out of the pocket..

i don't believe these are things his tools can overcome in the NFL..

I agree & I am sure most on here agree but even taking in the odds of him becoming good it may be better than what else is out there beyond Fitz. I really do trust TB to make the right choice here.

I mean think about it the other QB's upside does not look better than Geno's to be come a very good QB. Yes as a get by QB the others may be better but with geno you could hit a HR. TB is the one to know.

If TB likes him lets roll the dice for a year......BUT WOODY don't stop looking

Let's be honest. The jets staff regard Fitz as the starter if he walks in the door.
Geno is spoken of in terms like" we'll see if he develops" "he has tools" "we'll see how he does in camp" "right now he's on the team"

Isn't it clear where each qb stands in the eyes of the front office? What's there to argue about?

Our opinions don't matter, we make educated guesses and pray for the best.

I see Fitz having the potential to leave a very positive thumb print this team. Last year he walked in the door a stranger, immediately made marshal (a life long diva) his bitch, mad max style. He grabbed this team by the throat and broke team records. Those are things petty can look at and absorb. The players are in place. Unfortunately, we have a salary cap, and are forced to pay Fitz 7.5 or cut a player to pay him more.

Geno is a dope. What fixes that? Studying and applying. If Fitz doesn't come back, geno is young, healthy, can be elusive, and has a strong arm. I'd like him gone, but in this year's reality, there's a chance he's workable.
A gm doesn't want to go into the season hoping his qb doesn't suck, he wants consistent play.

There isn't anything to argue about. You said it 100% correctly. Anyone with a brain knows that Fitz is our starter if the Jets can sign him. IF the Jets somehow do not manage to get Fitz signed, then it becomes this murky water of indecision. And really that's the reason why Geno may not get cut during this offseason. If they don't have their clear starter, Jets coaches still want to win as many games as they can. The CS does not know who can win more games among the rest of the scrubs on the team.

We've got Petty and everyone is hoping for him to be the answer. With that said, right now he's a gigantic question mark.

EVERYONE knows that Geno sucks. Everyone also knows that Geno is a f*cking punk. Therefore, the vast majority of Jets fans want him off the team ASA humanly possible. But they also know that shocking as it may sound, Geno may very well be the best QB the Jets have on their roster if Fitz stays gone. It's a horrible thought to contemplate, but that is the reality of the situation.

D'Brick???? Well, WTF knows or even cares what he has to say? He or she is completely off the wall in his/her thinking. In this argument he's completely wrong. He uses statements that Woody may have said LONG ago about Geno, but completely omits what he said recently because it is damning to Geno.

I mean that's like him contending that the Jets think Vernon Gholston is a great player, today in 2016, because they rafted him 6th overall and THOUGHT he was going to be a great player for the Jets for years when they drafted him in 2008. Complete fabrication and an effort to tell half truths.
