I heard the deal is a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year. The Jets want protection back if Rodgers walks after a season.... like perhaps a 3rd next year instead of a 2, or a 2 with a 3rd back from the Pack. Its getting pretty close now. Personally I think protection back will not be necessary because Rodgers will play a couple more years....especially if we are a deep playoff team next year (year 1)

There's tidbits of evidence here and there. The first of which would be the hc no longer reporting to Woody (like with Gase). The most recent would be when Carr visited the team and JD didn't break bread with him.

I'm not sure I understand Jets fans' relationship with Woody. There seems to generally be a hate, sometimes just, often unjust. He is criticized for not spending the money, though he has spent a ton of money on the team, including on the facility at Florham Park and on big-time free agents.

Perhaps the biggest critique I hear is that he only cares about dollars and cents, and doesn't care about winning. Fans talk about how the team hasn't won in forever, and how badly they want a winner now. But as soon as Woody says the same thing, he gets roasted.

I don't get it. I mean, other than this being the guy who charges the fans for tickets...

Let's talk about the trade. In all likelihood, the Packers agreed on a trade in principle and then reneged. You can see evidence of this by how close both teams are in agreeing on the compensation. The Jets wouldn't have talked to A-A-Ron if they felt like they and the Packers were too far apart. This couldn't have possibly dragged on for 2 months because the Jets wanted a 2025 pick. The Jets aren't pushing to close the deal because time is on their side with this one.

To your comment, JD is making the call and Woody has given him full support to succeed or fail. Woody takes a lot of criticism it seems but people forget how bad things were with Hess. Woody was a bicep tear away from delivering a title in '08 and a career ender (Jenkins) away in '10. My only take is that Jets fans will take their frustrations out on the easiest target.

My disdain for him comes from him thinking that his money makes him an expert on football matters. He is not. He is a rich spoiled kid that grew into a rich spoiled adult.
That being said he is not shy about spending boatloads of cash on our beloved team. Who could be upset about that?
If he would only leave the decisions up to the people who KNOW football all would be great. How many times has his decisions turned over the staff again without giving a chance for their plans to come to fruition? How many times have we heard that the owners want this player or this coach? He has finally gotten IMO the best coach and GM tandem we have had here in a long time. Now is time for him to sit back, shut his fucking mouth, and let the football people do what he hired them to do.

JD or Woody didn't break bread with Carr? Woody didn't want Carr and all reports are the staff, ( JD, Saleh, Hackett) all loved Carr but woody prevented JD from offering him a deal as he wanted Rodgers.

My problem with Woody has never been about money and spending, it’s with the obvious meddling and inserting himself into deals. He is the James Dolan of the football world! He knows nothing about football , yet him forcing himself into deals he wants has been evident his entire tenure as owner.

He never learns and loves to pass the Buck on his own failed moves. Injects himself —> move fails —> start firing people —> rinse repeat!!,.
