This definitely seems like a real possibilityIf that's the case, will we be drafting for Packers with one of our 2nd round picks?

Good question. I don't know. I've never seen it done in the NFL.If that's the case, will we be drafting for Packers with one of our 2nd round picks like they do in the NBA, or do the rules preclude us from dealing current draftees?
That is oddJust googled this about trading drafted rookies (need to fact check):
Can a NFL rookie be traded?
Second, if a rookie is traded, his cap allotment remains with the team that originally drafted him, which make trades involving rookie players relatively rare. (This rule does not apply, however, to rookies that are waived by the teams that drafted them.)
So, if we did what I suggested earlier (drafting a player FOR Packers) then we would retain the CAP hit of that 2nd rounder. Therein lies the roadblock perhaps. JD is willing to give up this years #2, but doesn't want to accommodate Packers wish to announce the deal until after June 1 and incur the CAP hit for the player we drafted for Packers. Mental masturbation!

I have no problem with that. GB gets too save a little face, and everyone gets what they want.If this does happen before the draft I have read a few times about the possibility of them swapping 1st round picks (13 and15) as part of the deal.
I don't like it either but this is the way it is. They missed on Zach and instead of cutting their losses they're going the quick fix route. Probably gonna wind up getting everyone fired but we will see.I'm probably the only one who cares, but I would rather see anyone (well other than you know who) play QB this year than see this guy wear Namath's number. I think that it is going to be a bit painful to see.
Definitely missed on Wilson. However, this quick fix route may not be a bad thing. With QBs being as expensive as they are, and taking up so much of the salary cap, there are only two ways to win:I don't like it either but this is the way it is. Love the optimism Sack but when has the quick fix worked, especially for this team?Definitely missed on Wilson. However, this quick fix route may not be a bad thing. With QBs being as expensive as they are, and taking up so much of the salary cap, there are only two ways to win:
1. Have a loaded roster and a young QB on a rookie contract, or
2. Have a stud veteran QB and a solid, young roster mostly on rookie contracts.
I think JD was hoping to follow the first option. However, the team had the second overall pick and liked Wilson. Regardless of what we think of Wilson, they had to strike. But it was before the rest of the roster was ready to support a young QB, so even if Wilson had been good, it might not have worked. So he took the young QB before he wanted to.
Now, he has to follow the second option. Many of the studs are on rookie deals. When it's time for most of them to be paid, Rodgers will be gone, his contract hit will have passed, and the team will be ready with a loaded roster to try to go with a young QB.
So, JD wanted to go option 1, but circumstances made him shift to option 2. That brings us to now. I think the long-term plan is to use Rodgers for option 2, but then to shift from option 2 to option 1 after Rodgers retires.
Rodgers is crazy enough, or non-caring to wear this:I'm probably the only one who cares, but I would rather see anyone (well other than you know who) play QB this year than see this guy wear Namath's number. I think that it is going to be a bit painful to see.
To my knowledge would say very reliableWow. This was posted two hours ago. No further confirmation yet. How credible is the source?
hasn't namath already offered #12 to rodgers once he gets here??I'm probably the only one who cares, but I would rather see anyone (well other than you know who) play QB this year than see this guy wear Namath's number. I think that it is going to be a bit painful to see.
