Assuming you do mean 'veteran' rather than animal doctor, Tyrod Taylor IS a veteran. As is Adrian Martinez and (technically) Jordan Travis. The hostility towards Tyrod because he is not named Aaron Rodgers seems a bit excessive. If you want some guy from outside the building, why not a younger player rather than another washed-up immobile guy on his way down? With any luck the market for Stafford will be too rich for us.
I even read somewhere that an even steven trade ......Rogers for Stafford was suggested. That story should get some traction.
For my two cents I think Tyrod is a good very short term QB. He simply has not been able to put together more than a few games before injury puts him out of action. So when that happens 4 or 5 games into the season it would likely be Martinez that would get the job because he had success in the UFL even though he has never taken a snap in the NFL. Travis is too much of an unknown at this time to get the job. That's why I believe another NFL experienced QB will be brought in to start.

I think it's going to be Cousins on a one year deal around 6.5 -9.5 million range.
This team isn't a contender but they will try to complete.

There was a story recently that the Steelers were looking at Daniel Jones as an alternative to Rodgers. If Stafford then goes to the Giants, Rodgers to the Rams, and Fields to the Jets, we will have a perfect QB carousel.

I don’t know what it is ( the real plan ) but I find it hard to believe that this is the plan going forward at QB . I guess we’ll find out come draft and free agency .

Not just a plan to move on from Aaron Rodgers
What the hell was the last two years? Jets overpaid for a QB that was 40. In the most Jetsy way, he tears his achilles on the 4th play after not pulling the trigger to a wide open Garrett Wilson if I remember correctly. Then he comes back and looks washed up for the first 2/3 of the season. He was never good enough last year to lead to wins. If you are going to start over then why would you go with a QB that is old, injured and hasn't been good since 2021 where he led the Packers to 10 whole points in a playoff game. Rodgers has always just been a regular season QB outside of his one SB victory. I guess the question is why would you want to see mediocrity? Maybe the plan is to tank the season and draft one of the 2026 QB's. I don't think having Rodgers would bring any excitement and frankly the Jets are in this mess because they wasted picks and money on Rodgers and his cronies. Rodgers is a big part of the old regime which was a disaster. Time to start over. It's really the only answer.

Your post was too long to read, but we can all agree that we are in a horrible situation. Tyrod or Rodgers just comes down to drama I think. Tyrod will do what the team wants. Rodgers only wants to do things his way. Draft a QB this year or next while strengthening the OL and WR's talent. I think you are on the right track with this statement .........sort of.......... I don't think the Jets are in a horrible situation. It's certainly not great but also not horrible. There is a lot of young talent on this team with some of it in danger of being lost in free agency. After hearing this weeks presser from Glenn and Mouge I believe that they intend to do as much as they can to retain any of the free agents that fit into their plans. They as much as said that. They also said that they are comfortable with their cap space which would indicate that they are confident that they have the funds to add to the team in spots they want to fill. The most notable area of deficiency that probably lead to you using the term horrible is the QB position. You're right. That's a sad situation but I'm guessing that they intend to create a bridge using Tyrod and another QB from free agency with a rookie, or Travis, sort of a rookie, learning behind them. Just a guess and that's because there just are not many other options out there as far as franchise QBs are concerned. Some of last seasons player deficiencies were results of poor coaching and poor play calling. Hopefully this new staff can correct that. I'm going to remain hopeful that that is the case at least until I see how training camp goes.
