Pats are Pats and will always be our thorn in the butt but what about the Bills? Should we be worried? They have looked good in preseason. Defense looks much better than they did last year. Maybe more comfortable.

The two worst losses of the season last year were against the Bills. Rex was an afterthought. The Jets had 2nd and goal from inside the 5 and got denied. That was a soul crushing loss. Unforgivable loss. Then we crapped the bed in the last game of the season up in Buffalo. Against a mediocre team.

The Bills are dealing with devastating injuries/losses this off season. Darius is the latest casualty, dealing with substance abuse issues. Their top two draft picks, including Ragland, are banged up. All this despite the fact that we're still in August.

If the Jets can't handle the Bills, we have no business going to the playoffs. They are an 8-8 team at best next year.

I say yes. The Bills have made the Jets their bitches for two full seasons now and it really hasn't even been close.

I would've said the Jets were doomed this season as they added two 1st day starters. But it seems the Bills have hit an injury bug. On paper, the Bills are the better team. But the Jets will have the advantage of playing them with some of their starters out, so they could possibly steal a game.

A truly good defense in that Buffalo wind will do in Fitz almost immediately...

Those two Buffalo Games, also taking into consideration that its the coach we had just fired to hire Bowles, was BY FAR Bowles biggest disappointment in his first year as HC.

IMO those two games dropped his first year grade from what would have been an A+ had he simply split those games and made the playoffs, to a B for winning ten games, a big improvement over the previous year, but no higher than a B because we spit the bit in those Buffalo Games, particularly the last one with everything on the line. If Bowles has a competitive bone in his body, and I know he does, he has to be chomping at the bit to get another crack at the Bills.

Incidentally I can say all of the same for Fitz in his first year. Just replace Bowles name with his and all of the above remains exactly the same. So if he has a competitive bone in his body, he has to be chomping at the bit for Buffalo too.

Revis had a terrible game and gave up big plays to Sammy Watkins. Fitz took chances late and it didn't work out. We were the better team but Revis was hurt and we lost a heart breaker.

The one thing to consider is, Rex's bluster works when a team is having success. When he bloviates about how great his team is, it can help get the best out of an already good team. But over time, and with mediocrity, it can start to sound like empty rhetoric if the team is not performing.

If the Bills won 10 games last year, there might be serious reason for concern. But they won 8. Any and all proclamations of their greatness will be taken with a grain of salt, including in their own locker room.

Calling a good team great can help boost their confidence and put them over the top (see his first 2 years with the NYJ). Calling a mediocre team great just sounds like meaningless words, or worse, that the head coach is out of touch with the problems on a team (see his other years with the NYJ).

The injury bug also hasn't exactly been kind in Buffalo.

I was listening to NFL radio yesterday. Some "expert" was expounding on the intricacies of the league and when it came to the AFC he said:

Patriots are a lock even if they lost Brady.

The reasoning:
1. The Dolphins are bad
2. The Bills are led by Ryan
3. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the Jets QB

That's it, then he went on to another division

I changed the station

We all know the NFL is a QB driven league.

I guess he didn't watch the Jets pr Fitzpatrick at all last year.

As for the Pats, everyone who bows down to the Pats thinks it's easy because they did it once. They landed a once-in-a-lifetime QB in the sixth round, so obviously it must be easy. They'll have no problem doing ti again. Brady is expendable because the Pats are so awesomely amazing at drafting Canton-bound QBs. They did it once, after all.

All we heard about with Cassel was that he would be the next Brady. Then it was Hoyer. Then Mallett. Now Garoppolo. All hyped as the next great All-World QB who would replace Brady, and the Pats wouldn't miss a beat. Now that Cassell, Hoyer, and Mallett are no longer Patriots, they're bums. But Garoppolo is legit great because he's still a Patriot.

I've heard this song-and-dance far too often. If it's so damn easy to draft a franchise QB, why do a bunch of teams, including the Jets, fail to do it over and over again? And why don't the Pats do it more than once before they get credited as brilliant drafters of QBs? They did it ONCE!

Tyrod Taylor looked very good the other night. Rex has it out for us. WE need to take care of business when we play them.
