All Things DARELLE REVIS

It just makes me a little sick that the Jets (John Idzik) didn't sign Revis last year, when there was enough money to pay him twice. Instead Revis goes to the Pats and wins a SB. I wonder if Revis wasn't in a Patriots uniform if they would have narrowly beaten the Ravens, or if the Seahawks, up by 10 in the SB would have pulled away by 17. The Jets secondary wouldn't have been such a travesty and the team probably would have been closer to 8-8, not like that matters because 8-8 doesn't get you anything. Idzik had a chance to look like a genius by trading a player for a #1 and signing him back the next year; basically a 1 year rental for a first rounder. Couldn't be more glad that guy's ass is out the door. This is Macagann trying to fix Idzik's blunder and regaining the value back in the trade to Tampa.

Yep, that's how things can turn out. And keep in mind he was very close to signing Vontae Davis. Had he landed him from the outset, things could very well be different today. But he didn't. He followed a pattern of not negotiating and sticking to a number and losing prime free agents. This dynamic as a new GM was foreign to Idzik. I'm not pinning Revis on him though as I believe this was an owner's decision directing him not to deal with Darrelle. I blame Woody for being petty and I can't help but think the time together with Casserly and Polian may have something to do with his new approach towards Revis today.
This recent signing opens up potential tampering charges as being real now. Does the NFL dock a draft pick? Woody's comments led directly to this signing, no? That's what everyone will point to, especially Kraft.

im honestly not 100% excited about this move. There is a dirty feeling you have when Revis is on your team. He is in his 30s, still a dick, and still a guy I think you have to worry about injury. I guess the true value add for me is other than what he brings to the field, is what he brings to the meeting rooms working with these kids, cause Milliner, Skrine, mcDougle, Williams, and Pryor are still young players. if the Jets were going to sign 2 CBs, they needed 1 to be a stud to align these kids. At least we have a leader to take over one of the weakest part of our team from last year.

Speak for yourself, please. And name one bad thing he has done. The guy's an exemplary citizen never having gotten in trouble, is a leader in the locker room, prepares as hard and competitively as any player you will ever see, is lauded by coaches everywhere he's played....what the hell? And where's SG3??? I saw him rant and rave to no end when someone dare bring up Revis' name a few weeks ago. Where is he?
I'm tired of the played rhetoric that he's somehow a "bad" guy for trying to negotiate the most money he can get. That's not a bad person! Everyone does this. Everyone who has a brain. There's something fundamentally wrong with this country in general as nearly everyone has a problem with jealousy directed towards successful people. Those same successful people EARN their success. And no one can dare be happy for these people. NO, no, they have to break them down with pettiness and jealousy. Pathetic.

That's sad commentary and I, for one, won't have it without debate.

If anyone should be criticized, it's Woody. Woody traded him and couldn't stomach hard negotiating. That's on him. He let emotions dictate his business dealings. And it likely (just a guess) took two old football pros (Casserly and Polian) to convince him that he's been on the wrong (emotional) side of the equation and he's come to his senses to bring back a player who always wanted to be here. "Bad guy" Revis.

Shame on all of you for claiming he's such a bad guy. You should embrace the fact that he was big enough to overlook the personally charged trade that shipped him out unceremoniously only to come back, after he tried and was refused even last year. Be happy he WANTS to be a JET and retire here. Be flattered after all this crap, he is proud to be a Jet. But no, you have to find something wrong. Piss on that.

Me too, Super, I thought he was gonna hold us up for more than that. I'm actually relieved that its only 14 million per, though I don't like the five years, but I can live with that and like I said, we had to make some concessions to take him away from the team he just won a SB with.

Last week I predicted on the transaction thread 5 years 75 mill because Peterson got 5 for 70 (Peterson, Sherman, and Revis have been jockeying for highest paid, it was just after Sherman got his mega deal Peterson 1-uped him...so I thought Revis would up him).

Shame on all of us and you're sick and tired? A lot of animosity here...I guess when players become jets we forget 2 holdout in 3 years, one of which led to a string of injuries that led to a season ending injury. When they put on jets jerseys, I guess for some they can do no wrong.

Some good points here, but hard to tell if that was idzik or woody's decision and that's coming from an idzik basher.

Not real happy but of course come Sunday I will cheer for anyone out there playing for the Jets. No one else was going to give him this kind of contract, so why did we? This move looks like desperation and seat selling by Woody. We still are lacking the most prized possession on any team...a franchise QB.
That said, may he get five more rings.

I said tired, not sick and tired. Stop being so dramatic, please.
And where's the animosity? I didn't call anyone names. You're the one who said he made you feel dirty. Back to you, Mr. Sensitive.

And to flip it around, it takes those like you to find something wrong with a successful person. You still haven't shown me why he's a "dirty" person. So why would you assert that I claim he can "do no wrong" in a sarcastic fashion? You haven't even demonstrated that he IS a bad person. That's an invalid point. What has he done that so egregious?? Please, help me understand.

I'll repeat:

Why is Revis such a dirty person? Why is he such a bad man? Explain.....

If I were a betting man Woody had enough with all the constant renegotiations and needed a Revis break. Idzik was probably doing his bidding. Just my guess.

I can tell by the amount of emotions in these posts you're dead set on Revis being a choir boy who can do no wrong. I don't have the energy behind my opinion to debate what a dick Revis is. I know you're excited he's a jet. For me, I don't care enough about it to get in a long discussion about the pains of working with Revis (there's a reason he is on his 3rd team in 3 years). I can already tell you're closed minded on the subject or every post wouldn't be a borderline attack.

Sg3 is on vacation but he's hardly a person that should upset you. He hates everything except the firing of Rex.

Very good. You got nothing.

I'm open to hear what bad guy Revis is. I really am, I assure you.

Your response tells me everything I need to know. You and others are simply jealous of his success. You resent his being able to make as much money as he can and feel it is somehow excessive that he hold out for as much money as possible. I think I got it.

It's not your fault as Americans have been conditioned to reflexively react this way towards successful people. Democrats in particular enrage such emotions as rage from the "have-nots" towards the "have's". It's a successful tool towards dividing the masses and keeping some in power...but I digress.

I brought his name up after seeing him attack a poster here who merely brought up Revis' name a few weeks ago. I'd like to hear his comments on the matter. That's all. He was another that spouted off as to what a bad guy Revis is. I'd like more insight as to why people feel this way. What has Revis done to deserve such hostility? Is it all mere pettiness and jealousy? I'd like to have dialogue with him.

It's not about jealousy it's about loyalty. He hasn't been loyal to anyone and that upsets people. Nothing wrong with what he's doing that is how he chose to negotiate through his playing career and he is so good that he can get away with it. Why should he be loyal to any team? As soon as he cant play anymore we will cut him. Loyalty is a two way street. We can't expect someone to be loyal when the team's themselves won't.

I don't think you can interject loyalty as a reason here. You know full well he tried to return after being traded to TB. Come on. He didn't ask to be traded. That's a poor example and one that suggests he's a bad person for not taking less money for his success and hard work that earned him a particular market value that other teams would pay for. This IS a business and I would be careful labeling someone as bad because they want more money.
Is that where we are as a society? Seriously?

You know full well he tried to return to the Jets last year? How do you know this? Were you involved in the revis camp and reached out to Woody and IDzik? Please explain how you know this.

Show me where he didn't. What, he lied about this? He didn't lie about his interest this year, did he?

As far as I can tell, he doesn't have a pattern of lying. But he's a bad person, for some unknown reason that you are incapable of providing.

And that's what it comes down to. I know you try your best to deflect from the point of the topic (interjecting emotion or another unrelated point of discussion) whenever you get flustered or don't have a real answer but I'm here to keep you focused.

Once again, what makes Revis a dirty person? This was your original assertion for which I have yet to get a response to. You seem to be arguing without a reason.

Go ahead, think about it....waiting.
