I don't see anyone else out there who has his ceiling.

That's exactly my perspective. There's no QB available in FA that should keep us from drafting one in April. Not one. But if we're going to bring someone in, let's bring someone in with potential to turn into something. Locker has ability. And, in my opinion, he has shown improvement in his play from the pocket. There's potential there to develop into something. You shouldn't count on it, but he's someone you roll the dice on when the risk is low.

Signing Hoyer or Fitz does NOTHING for me. I would rather stick with Geno than go with a dead end journeyman.

Agree on Locker 100%.

I watched him demolish the vaunted Rex D in 2013 (until he got hurt)

and again last season. (Got hurt again)

If he is healthy, he's the guy unless Chipper trades us Foles and picks for the six, as reported
I think Locker is better than any QB in this draft after Winston and Mariota. Better than Hundley and better than Petty.

Again, purely from a talent POV and not counting durability.

@STEINY31 #Jets are definitely interested in Mike Iupati

This is news. Us, Redskins, and Bucs...this would be a big signing for our run game and only 28 I believe. He struggles pass blocking, but we look like a run first team in 2015 so we're building to our strength if we land him. I'd prefer the cheaper Carpenter from Seattle, but no one should cry if we add Iupati for Ivory to run behind and help with Suh.

I saw that, and have mixed emotions. On the negative side, he'll be expensive and is one-dimensional (poor pass protector). On the positive side, with a young QB you need a strong running game and Iupati is a deluxe road grader.

I would say so far:

Maxwell CB
Jackson CB
Franklin OG
Flowers CB
McPhee OLB
McCourty S
Hughes OLB

I think these are all names tied to the Jets via need or scheme fit...you may not count them because within 48 hours of free agency beginning they resigned...but I think you discounting them isn't fair to project on others who were hopeful to add some of these names on Tuesday. Whether they resigned before or after free agency began, it's still disappointing we didn't add some of this talent, IMO.

maxwell i mentioned, but he went straight to philly, never even giving dan quinn in atlanta a look. seemed destined to happen.

jackson, flowers, hughes and mccourtey all stayed with their existing teams. i know it was during the "open" period, but this guys didn't leave for another team.

franklin is a player i would have liked. he chose to go to SD, where he knows the head coach, who used to be his OC.

mcphee - didn't seem to be on the jets radar. now maybe you wanted him, but didn't seem to be a priority of the jets. and given the depth of the rush end/OLB position in the draft, i'm not sure we needed to spend big FA bucks on the spot.

and the jets DID add talent so far. his name is brandon marshall, one of the best players to switch teams since the end of last year.

It makes perfect sense. They have a ton of cap space and unlike last year when Idzik got caught holding the bag, this year we are mandated by league rules to spend the majority of it, and the guys worth spending it on are dwindling by the minute. Iupati is one of the few guys left who would really give us some bang for the buck, and he fills a huge need.

You could go to war with Mangold, Iupati, Oboushi, Brick and Giancomini

Feel the same way. Hate to put so much cap space in an OG, but we're likely a run first team facing Suh twice a year...it wouldnt be a bad signing but he's going to get LT money while playing RG, not a huge fan of that aspect of the addition...but the talent is undeniable, IMO.

All I can say is, we are definitely on the same page. :)

@nfltrade_rumors # Jets Interested in Ryan Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick and Cro are like your ex-girlfriends you can have sex with whenever you want to, but you only do when you really, really want to because they're ex-girlfriends for a reason.

Safe fall back options that dont really do much for me beyond hold the fort while we hope for something better.

No argument from me...except I hope we draft someone to eventually replace Gia some place in the draft (throw a dart to pick the round, just a guy our scouts like).
Me too, I'm not a fan of Breno, IMO that was Idzik trying to save face with a player he knew, but he's mediocre at best.

Jared Odrick likely headed to Jaguars

With Ndamukong Suh poised to join the Dolphins, someone on the interior defensive line in Miami is about to be the odd man out.

The odd man out likely will be Jared Odrick. (Pun not intended at all, and I’m too lazy to go back and change the wording of the first line.)

Odrick is due to become a free agent officially at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Unofficially, the expectation per multiple league sources is that he’ll land with the Jaguars.

A Sunday evening report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel pegged Odrick as likely to sign with the Raiders. And since the Raiders have money to burn, maybe they up the ante in order to get at least one of the guys to whom they’ve been linked.

For now, though, the expectation is that Odrick will remain in Florida (with it’s lack of state income taxes) and head north to Jacksonville.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - QB - Texans
The Jets are expected to pursue QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The Texans will cut Fitzpatrick after deciding to move forward with Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer at quarterback. Fitzy played for Jets OC Chan Gailey in Buffalo and can help Geno Smith while also competing for the starting gig.

Chris Myers - C - Free Agent
The Broncos have turned their attention to free agent center Chris Myers.
Myers was thought to be on Oakland's radar but with the Rodney Hudson signing, he's no longer needed. The pass-heavy Broncos are hoping for a more balanced attack under new coach Gary Kubiak. That makes Myers a perfect fit given his run-blocking expertise. Kubiak was Myers' offensive coordinator ten years ago during his rookie season in Denver. Houston cut Myers for salary cap purposes last week.

Stefen Wisniewski - C - Raiders
The Bears are expected to pursue free agent C Stefen Wisniewski.
Wisniewski's departure from Oakland became official earlier today when the team signed former Chiefs center Rodney Hudson to a five-year mega-deal. The Bears already have Roberto Garza at center but the younger Wisniewski offers more long-term value. According to Rotoworld's free agent rankings, he's the fourth-best center available.
