There's more to a decision to play a guy besides good or bad. Bowles was resetting the Ryan locker room. Rex would fill inferior players with compliments to try and get them to play confident. Bowles wants his guys to shut up and be humble. You're nobody until you prove it on the field.

With this change, we don't know what internal struggles were happening in the locker room. Maybe dee had a giant ego and a tissue paper body. Maybe bowls wasn't confident that dee was healthy enough to play, there are many injuries that go unreported. Maybe his technique is bad. There's a thousand possibilities.

The fact is dee is a jet because mac wants him to be. In my personal opinion, dee is a bust as far as a first round pick, but has the chance to still carve out an nfl career. With his rest last season, he has no excuses this year. He rested his fragile body, and had the ability to practice in Bowles system, and watch cro and Revis play.

We won't know the truth until GameDay, who mac thinks dee is.

WRs have to maneuver to catch the ball, AND hang onto it after they get gobsmacked into next week and beyond.
Defenders simply have to hit the WR & hang on to tackle him, and maybe bat a hand at the ball on the way in or after it arrives - both of which take considerably less concentration and hand skill.
Ditto Rbs trying to get past LBs.
LBs can sit and wait for the RB to come to them, they have the advantage.

All in all, the talent in the draft tends to accumulate on the defensive side higher in the draft than it does for offensive players, except in rare years where you have an extraordinarily deep pool of prospects like the WR position in 2014 & 2015.
This translates into a few offensive skill players being taken too early and a lot of decent defensive talent still sitting on the board after 2 or 3 rounds.

I would disagree with how you over simplify defense. There's a lot for defense to recognize and adapt to, and know when to pass off, and where to be.

But it us true, that if offensive talent will still be around in the latter rounds, it makes sense to draft defense while the players are available.

Cutting Milliner is merely a formality now IMO. This guy was kept on the bench in favor of UDFA's even after he came back with a clean bill of health. That should tell you all you need to know? Like I said, this isn't the f*cking freeloaders club and that is all Dee Milliner has ever been. His 4 million salary is literally like flushing 4 million down the toilet. Sorry, but that is way too wasteful.

That's not what I posted. What I posted was Dee Milliner was kept on the bench in favor of UDFA's even after he came back with a clean bill of health. And it's true. Dee Milliner SUCKS.

As usual the truth is somewhere in the middle.
HYATT™ oversimplified to illustrate a point, but your comments are also applicable.
Still, when all is said and done, defense tends to go earlier because it normally sees the field earlier because Pro defense is easier to learn than Pro offense.

The one exception HYATT™ would point out is at Safety.
SS is the hardest position to master outside of QB.
It takes 3-4 years to fully develop a great SS, and Polamalu was such a freak for that reason.
He instinctively knew how to play it at the Pro level by his 2nd season.
FS isn't QUITE as big a leap, but it still usually takes 2-3 years to maximize FS prospects and get them to the top of their game.

Figure out a good solution for Mo, restructure Brick, upgrade OL/LB/RB/ST. I would bring Cro back at the right price. If he's fully healthy, and comes back on the cheap, I'll take it. You can never have enough corners. Get Fitzpatick situation taken care of, and of course look for the future franchise Qb.

I am probably in the minority, but I want to give Milliner one more season. I think his main issue is injuries obvi. There was a stretch at one point where he played 3 or 4 good games in a row. Corner is probably the hardest position in football, after QB. If he can stay healthy, and even contribute as a #3, I'm ok with that.

i don't think you have much to worry about as far as the jets giving milliner "one more season.." if they cut him, it's a 4 million dollar cap hit..

I agree give him his last chance to prove his worth this year... The cap hit isn't something we are going to do this year.. So come training camp throw it all at him and let him sink or swim....

SS & FS are both way harder to master.
WR, RB, & CB are probably the easiest skill positions to make the jump to NFL levels, along with DL.
Just me 2 cents worth though.
