Been lurking for a little while since the closing of Jetsinsider... this thread was enough to finally bring me out.
I don't get the fuss about Nick Foles. at this time last year anybody would trade the
#6 overall pick for him alone straight up. He had Aaron Rodgers, Manning, Brees, Brady like MVP numbers in 2013. you can say he had one good year or that he's a product of chip Kelly, but he also played fairly well as a rookie under Andy Reid. he had a border-line 80 QB rating as a rookie. In a down year last year he had a similar rating, which leads me to believe that thats where he bottoms out. I'd take a 80 qb rating any day, considering the last jets Qb to consistently post above a 80 QB rating per season was Chad Pennington. thats 10 years of terrible QB play, minus one good season 3/4 season by Brett Favre.
I'm not simply saying I'd be happy with an average quarterback. i'm just describing the worst of what the Jets would get from Nick Foles. He could be a top 10 QB in the league. He's already a top 20 if you ask me. again, you have to go back 10 years to when the Jets had a top 20 QB.
Taking Marriotta is a boom or bust for the Jets, but would be even bigger for the Eagles if they gave away Foles and two 1st rounders. If Marriota doesn't pan out for them, they couldn't rebuild for the next 2-3 years. But who cares what happens to the Eagles. Folks may very well end up being better than Marriota and the Jets get a boat load of high draft picks over the next couple of years to help rebuild this team.
Take Foles and the picks and this team will be poised for the next 5 years
