Gailey has a track record to prove he brings out the best a QB has to offer.

yep because he fits the QB to the style of play he is good at not taking the QB and fitting him into what the oc runs.

so you could see geno in alot of shot-gun and spread next year where he is most comfortable.

Disagree

IMO new OCs, mentors, etc are pipe dreams regarding Smith....he's not an NFL QB, never was and never will be.

Please god, bring in somebody who can play QB and show Geno Stiff the exit door

Well, you might be disappointed as we're seeing chatter that the new regime believes that better pass protection will allow for Geno to progress as they seem to be on board with keeping him. Maybe it's all disinformation.

I'm not jazzed by Geno either but I'm definitely not on board with Mariota. In seeing his tape and watching games against teams that took away the run, I'm not impressed. He ran a pop warner offense and will need to learn everything from scratch. We'll disagree on him.

I just don't see any better options at this point. I'd take a flier on Foles.

With the 6 pick, I would take the route of improving the team instead of desperately reaching for a QB who will take a long time to develop and look for a better option. Last year was the best year to get a QB. 2 years ago and this year and likely next year, no.

So we dump Geno Smith, and who exactly is starting at QB week one?

Mariota? Bryce Petty? Brian Hoyer?

I don't see alternatives. Mariota and Petty would get eaten alive this early, and Hoyer isn't much different than Geno.

While true, doesn't it make you wonder why he's been out of work for two years?

And didn't Morningwheg have a pretty good resume as well, before coming to the place OCs go to die?

I don't mean to be so pessimistic, but I'm not going to ask Gailey to perform any miracles. If we give him talent to work with, I'll expect him to produce results. But IMO if we give him the same crap the last few OCs were given, we've lost before the season even begins . . .

BB, We are not dumping Geno regardless if we draft Mariota or sign Hoyer or Locker or Fitz, or trade for Foles. Personally I have not given up on Geno, and look forward to him playing under Gailey. Let's go with Geno & Locker this year and if we still suck, make the big QB move next season with 3 really good QB's available. Draft Cooper and get Geno the weapons he needs to be successful.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Been lurking for a little while since the closing of Jetsinsider... this thread was enough to finally bring me out.

I don't get the fuss about Nick Foles. at this time last year anybody would trade the #6 overall pick for him alone straight up. He had Aaron Rodgers, Manning, Brees, Brady like MVP numbers in 2013. you can say he had one good year or that he's a product of chip Kelly, but he also played fairly well as a rookie under Andy Reid. he had a border-line 80 QB rating as a rookie. In a down year last year he had a similar rating, which leads me to believe that thats where he bottoms out. I'd take a 80 qb rating any day, considering the last jets Qb to consistently post above a 80 QB rating per season was Chad Pennington. thats 10 years of terrible QB play, minus one good season 3/4 season by Brett Favre.

I'm not simply saying I'd be happy with an average quarterback. i'm just describing the worst of what the Jets would get from Nick Foles. He could be a top 10 QB in the league. He's already a top 20 if you ask me. again, you have to go back 10 years to when the Jets had a top 20 QB.

Taking Marriotta is a boom or bust for the Jets, but would be even bigger for the Eagles if they gave away Foles and two 1st rounders. If Marriota doesn't pan out for them, they couldn't rebuild for the next 2-3 years. But who cares what happens to the Eagles. Folks may very well end up being better than Marriota and the Jets get a boat load of high draft picks over the next couple of years to help rebuild this team.

Take Foles and the picks and this team will be poised for the next 5 years

welcome and thanks for posting any issues or need help or suggestions you can pm me,elias, machinaverde, or the two mods sackexchange and I am sure you know lockejet.

I'm coming around on getting Foles, the 20, a 2 and next years 1 from Chipper for the 6.

I did some research and Foles is 100% recovered from his collarbone issue.

So Foles is the vet that rids us of the curse of Geno, and we still have the 20, two seconds, a 3 4 and 7 for Mac to turn into players and two 1s next year.

Plus we have Foles targeting Marshall,.Decker and Kerley to start and Jace at TE

I am all for trading out of 6 with the Eagles....... And honestly there are a variation of picks I would be happy with... They give us Foles, their 1st and 2nd this year and a 3rd and 4th next year.. cool.... Foles their 1st this year and next year along with their 2nd this year cool... They give us Foles their 1st,2nd and 4th this year.... cool.... Just saying I feel like trading for Marshall and if having the opportunity to trade out of 6 and get a quality starting QB and more picks to continue building the future.. is a no brainer.

Since I've been targeting Cooper, I'm now more on board with this trade if offered. And even if Foles didn't work out, we get some nice picks in addition to our allotment, which is quickly dissipating.

Tell them to get the damn Wilkerson deal done. The sooner that fella has a long term contract, the better, IMO.

Dear Jace

We luv ya man, but it will be just as easy to drop passes from Foles as from Smith no matter how much you believe in him

I just don't see it happening. Assuming Winston goes #1 , the teams from the #2 pick to #5 will want to trade with Philly as well........

There is no way in Hades the Eagles trade with us at #6 without being 100% sure Mariotta is there - that trade if it happens will only happen once the Jets go on the clock

Why would Philly want to trade with teams they know aren't going to draft Mariota.... The only reason to trade with anyof those teams is because they know for sure the Jets want Mariota and aren't going to trade with them.... If Tenn doesn't take him at 2.... He falls to the Jets at 6 and that's the team to trade with...Why... cause they have a QB to offer (FOLES)... Jets need a QB.... Jax, Raiders and Skins do not..... The price is cheaper trading with the Jets cause essentially they are only gonna give up 3 picks and a player that they are replacing.... With Jax, Raiders and Skins they would need to give up around 5 picks and then try and trade Foles to someone else to recover 1 maybe 2 picks if they are mid and late rd picks.... Logically, if the Eagles want Mariota, the Jets are the spot.. One stop shopping.

You make sense , however it just seems too easy and Im not sure if the Jets are sold on Foles or teams above us might want Foles as insurance. It's not like the teams above us have Manning or Rogers and I'm sure if Philly wants to move up, the teams above us will be contacting Philly and claiming that other teams are interested even if they are not....

the only one that worries me is tenn not because they would take mariotta because i doubt that but they like us have lots of holes so if philly showers them with a bunch more picks I say they prob bite.
