The Jets are under no pressure to sign Wilkerson long term. They can tag him, tag and trade, or even tag him again next year if they want. They're completely in the driver's seat and under no pressure to give him a big contract in the immediate future. I don't think Maccagnan's actions suggest he's not interested in keeping Wilkerson. He's gotta decide who's staying and who's going, and there are more immediate decisions that need to be made regarding players like Fitzpatrick, Snacks, Ivory, Powell, Brick and Cro potentially restructuring, ect.
Don't really understand your point.
I didn't say the Bills were interested in Snacks. I said the Pats, and even showed an example of how Lil Bill (Belichick) loves NT's. He also praised Snacks before we played them.
Yes I agree, the Jets could, and I think it's their intention of tagging and trading Snacks. i disagree that they can take their time resolving his issue, simply because before they can pay any of the other FA's they have to know how much they have to pay them with.
If they tag, and can't trade Wilderson that's $16,000,000 real money out of this year's cap. The last thing in the world the Jets want to do is push money on these older players down the road. How Wilkerson's contract is resolved is going to big time affect how the Jets deal with their own FA's, and other peoples FA's. Don't even know why I'm talking about The cap impact. LOL The original discussion was about a scenario where the Jets could, for long term cap reasons, be without both Wilkerson, and Snacks.
And that scenario is, if the Jets think both of them want to much money, it's next man up. Only point. period, that's it. :18:
