I was actually trying to be funny by paraphrasing a Bob Gibson quote. He was pitching and catcher Tim McCarver came to the mound for a conference about what to throw to the next batter. Gibson glared at him and growled "Get back behind the plate. The only thing you know abut pitching is you can't hit it".

I think it is unfair of Big moe to make fun of Darnold. You may get his sidekick angry......very haunting risk
The Jets are implementing an offense that is perfect for Sam's skillset; they have cap room and draft picks to ensure a seriously improved supporting cast, and we know that he will be getting the best coaching he has ever had. Consequently, there is good reason to believe that Sam Darnold can be a really good and productive QB this year. So, I'd be very okay with sticking with Sam. Unless the Jets are completely convinced that Zach Wilson is as good as Chris Simms and quite a few other people are saying he is, in which case I'd say fine, grab Wilson at #2 and trade Darnold for some additional draft capital - we know that there is significant interest in him on the trade market. But if they do stick with Sam, it is looking like they could get a huge package of good picks for #2, and not even have to move down too far (4? 8?).
Devil's advocate says this . In 2019, Zack Wilson had a 3rd round season playing his usual schedule . In 2020, playing a schedule that was made up as the season progressed against subpar competition . Even in their Bowl game where folks said he played superb, his team still lost. Before i bet the farm on Zack Wilson based on his 2020 season, i would have to see him in another year playing like he did in 2020. Unfortunately that won't happen and all we have is what we have.

I still say that sudden Sam will be the QB next year with Miami & Watson & Buffalo with Allen...add in by hook or crook Billy boy finds a QB. OH boy we ae in trouble
It hasn't been all bad with Darnold and he's done what he's done against the best in the NFL .

Greenie and Dan along with the Patriots and Steelers players bashing Jets on show say things Greenie wants like Sanchez and now Darnold. Sanchez looked good surrounded by talent able to have 6 seconds to pass and WRs that can jump over top of CBs to catch passes. Yeah Darnold is Sanchez 2 you can surround talent to be average QB. Jets Drafted wrong QB since 1965 Namath being the last good QB. Zach Wilson is future being accurate passer right out of the gate. Thats something Darnold couldnt do and still cant do.
Where was this 2 years ago when he played his regular schedule . Zack Wilson looked great against subpar talent and still managed to lose his bowl game against a team supposedly with inferior talent . Flavor of the Pandemic
I don't trust people that sucked at their profession.
Sports is different than taking advice in other areas from not top tier people.
The great ones in sport have an inner belief their charges should be as good as they were.
Best example, Ralph Houk, Yankee manager won a lot of championships-3rd string catcher
many others in other sports the same. Red Auerbach couldn't make his high school team.
The list goes on and on.

Umm, exactly what I said in my post before that sentence, as indicated by the word "consequently..."
- The new offense being implemented by the new coaching staff does what the old coaching staff hardly ever did - plays exactly to Darnold's demonstrated strengths; a moving pocket, designed rollouts for throwing on the move (where Darnold has proven to be extremely accurate) and play-action, et al.
- the cap space and abundance of high draft picks almost guarantees that Darnold would have the best supporting cast he has had to date, by a wide margin
- the Jets' new coaching staff appears to be head and shoulders above what Sam has had so far in his Jets career.
