Did Douglas screw up the Draft

GM Douglas had a very good Draft, but did he screw up the potential of a block buster Draft. Douglas could have traded Darnold to the 49ers for their #1 pick, the 12th pick of the 1st Rd. He could have auctioned the 2nd overall pick for a haul of #1's, #2's and more from Carolina. Still could have had a QB with a trade up from #23. Sure this is a bit of second guessing on how the Draft went with QB's. I just think we missed a golden opportunity. I'm not putting Douglas down as IMO he had a very good Draft.

A bit of 2nd guessing - c'mon. The draft was exactly what the team needed for building up the offense. The defense and perhaps another IOL will be addressed next year.

I think Darnold needed to go somewhere else to restart his career. I am not sure if our new qb will be any better, but I do have a good feeling about Douglas for some reason so I wont complain. heck, we have a zillion other things to choose from to complain about as Jet fans

Hey you try to stuff down a six foot grinder the same time you are drafting players. Not easy keeping the mustard off of your clothes so the TV cameras don't pick it up. He did well but as I have said many times . He needs to be great in this division not just good.

I'm not going to try to criticize a draft tally that added 20 new, eager to be Jets, players with lots of potential to excel in the new system that the Jets will be changing to just because we didn't get a haul for Sam Darnold. True, JD might very well have gotten more from the 49ers, BUT, MAYBE he just didn't want the 49ers to have Sam Darnold no matter what they offered. MAYBE we could have also gotten a haul for that #2 pick. And MAYBE there would still have been a chance to snag a potential franchise QB after that move. MAYBE. Unless you actually know the why for each of the moves he made it doesn't make sense to complain about a draft that appears, at least this early, to have been one of the best we've had in years with next seasons draft capitol looking quite good as well. I'm satified with the job JD did and am going to trust his judgement without trying to second guess him.

The only problem I have with Douglas draft is I felt he paid too much to draft the OL in the 1st. I wanted those 3rd'ers. Time will tell on that one.

They fell in love with Zach, who wasn't going to be around at #12. Whether they would have taken him over Lawrence we will never know. Whether Zach is the genuine article we will know within two seasons.

No one is giving a 1 for Darnold who hasnt shown any improvement in tight passes hitting WRs in back,hands,chest,head but did hit CBs from other teams 3ft away. Also didnt get bwttwr seeing open WRs,reading defenses,not telegraphing passes to defenses,being able to audible plays that goes with reading defenses. So a 1 for him(Darnold)? Nope. Now Darnolds on a loaded great team of Talent that QB right out of College could take them to Playoffs this year. I like and hope Darnold gets it and does great for his team. But he can only go as far as his talent so dont take O Line, topWRs and RB from Darnold.

Yeah Douglas slipped by not getting that first rounder for Sam. But I also think he should have kept Sam for insurance. If Sam did play well we could have either kept him or traded him for even more. Right now Morgan is the backup and that scary. Not because he stinks it because nobody knows what he can do being a rookie last year. So basically we have two rookie QB's going into 2021. I saw some video of Wilson playing basketball and he has some skills just hope he can translate to football and be a winner for us.

There's no second guessing here. Most of us wanted the Jets to trade the 2nd overall pick for a haul of picks. So Old#15 if you think trading the #2 overall pick was second guessing then your in a world of your own.

I am sorry for all you fans that he did not ask for your input but he made all the right moves filling needs to rebuild this shit roster. Next year the Jets will have 2 first and 2 seconds. I expect them to be back on the defense pick first again. Maybe CB Darry Stingley? Me I hope they will load up on offense like a massive tackle in Evan Neal or a receiver like Justyn Ross.
