LOLz how about his teammates "lack of action" before during & after he got rocked by enemkpali??

you don't have to be "columbo" to figure out he's not well liked in the jets organization & they want no part of him anymore.. why would they?? his track record shows he's an amazing asshole as well as a lousy NFL QB..

Googled Ryan Fitzpatrick and found this tidbit....is an American professional football player with an estimated net worth of $24 million.

If that is true then what the hell is he holding out for more money? I mean I can understand his wanting to get "paid" but when your a multi-millionaire do you really need a few million more? Are you that greedy, has the stats from last your affected your judgment/ego when the only team (only being the key word here) that has offer you a starting job and its seems $10 million and your waiting.... again for what?
hopefully what flgreen pointed out.. not signing a deal until training camp & letting petty & hackenberg get much needed reps in OTA's..

granted, i don't believe that's his thought process but i do believe that would be ideal..

if true, that data also means that he doesnt need the job - he's in a position where he can decide whether he wants it enough

for me, it would be easy - put me in coach. But who knows his thinking - injury risk, time for other stuff, pain levels, etc etc

if he is financially set for life, then he gets to decide.

I lean towards this line of thinking.

It's not like the guy "owes" us anything. He's decided a $ amount that would make it worth his while to play another year and if we don't reach that level he walks away.

I totally respect that attitude, just like I respect Macc for deciding what he's worth and not going a dollar over it.

If they already have an agreement, great. But if not, that doesn't mean either side will walk away as the "villian" in the scenario . . .

I like Fitz & reason he Played so well last season was due to Jets good O-Line-2 great WR's & top notch RB's that all took pressure of him to have a great season. Fitz always has a good Contract season & then falls back. Also Rex Ryan pulled Fitz's pants down in last 2 Bills games & showed his weaknesses that all teams will look for next time against Fitz. No to big contract of Fitz.

Jeez, you do tend to confuse this board with Jet fans at large. One of the papers, I think it was the Daily News had a poll, and I don't remember the numbers, but there was very substantial support for Geno Smith. For good reason imho. With a far inferior offensive team and O. coaching staff, in 2014 Geno had the Jets in position to win both Patriot games, and pitched a perfect game against the Dolphins in the season finale. If Geno had had a chance to play under Gailey and with Marshall and Decker et al, I believe he would have been at least as successful as Fitzpatrick and I would love to see him get that one more chance.

Seemingly his team mates disagree with you. How many starting QB's in the league would have their team mates lining up to shake hands with a bubble player who had broken their starting QB's jaw. That speaks volumes about what regard they had for smith.

Let's boil this down. Denver was the hottest team on Fitz not named the ny jets. Denver was offering around 5 mill. And opted to go with Sanchez and lynch instead.
The Jets reportedly are offering 9 mill, a terrific supporting cast, continuity, a chance to play with his teammates who are clearly friends and want him back, the publicity of being a nyqb, and being setup to succeed, and potentially cash in next year if he proves he can be the man 2 years in a row.

Apparently Fitz wants 14-15 per.
I've always thought they would settle at 12 mill.

So the Jets are clearly showing him respect by offering double the next team, and announcing everywhere they want him.

Who knows how this pans out, but if I'm facing 9-12 mill or retirement, I play 16 fucking games!

There's no rush till camp starts, months from now, but I'd much rather we use this time to build chemistry and start hazing the rookies.

They were teammates with IK for more than a year and already had established friendships with him, it's not like they just started liking him because he punched Geno. But I never suggested that Geno was popular with his teammates, just that people saying that the Jets offense was better under Fitz than it was under Geno completely ignore the fact that Fitz had far better weapons to work with as well as a much, much better OC. And even with that, Geno had some very good games. Anyway, I am sure that if Geno gets the chance to play and plays well and wins games, his popularity with his teammates will rise dramatically, not to mention with Jets fans.

I think that it is possible, having had a year to sit and learn - as he should have had to begin with - that he could be able now to make quicker decisions and get the ball out quicker. In fact, the reports in training camp BTP (Before The Punch) were just that, that he was looking great in Gailey's system, making quick reads and decisions and getting the ball out quickly. We'll never really know unless he actually gets to play.

smith has mostly played at a competent level with a red practice jersey on.. at least that's what two separate coaching staffs have told us.. look at the oakland game last season.. it was like a microcosm of his pro career.. all the way down to if you look at his numbers that day they look promising enough.....

look, maybe he's not the absolute lost cause i believe him to be.. maybe he gets a shot with his next team & the light goes on for him.. maybe he's matured enough to if not be a leader of men, at least someone who's respected in his next locker room..

hard to believe a fresh start for all involved (including the fan base) is not best case scenario..

Every single year we hear how great geno looks in camp, EVERY game he has played, he sucked! The only good games he had played were at the end of the season against teams that have visibly given up!

Go back and watch the film please.

You my friend are an optimist! I think we have all seen enough of Geno to know who/what he is and I want no part of that bum!!!

My hope is we resign Fitz and cut Geno for good.

this explains it......what is enough money he may want to buy the 90 million dollar island in FL or buy the Jets someday......

For right price bring back Fitz & if not, lets see what Petty has. He has a strong arm & the most accurate passer of the three,Geno/Hackenburg who are INTs machines. I don't know why Fitz thinks he deserves that kind of money. Good O Line-2 great WR's-2 Good RB's made him look good until Rex showed a Fitz we all remembered ,INTs & out of Playoffs. None of these QB's will take us to Playoffs or Super Bowl unless we build a Denver type Defense that gets to QB's .
