the year on the bench smith had watching & possibly learning could have been beneficial..

but if didn't help slow the game down dramatically for him, he will still be the same guy but with better skill position players around him..

fitzpatrick "sees" the game almost 3 seconds faster than smith.. ask any OLmen if he wants to maintain blocking a pass rusher almost 3 seconds longer for one QB than another one..

So is he gonna sign or what?! I cant take the suspense!

I think Geno could be a franchise QB, provided some kid out there in a foster home has a dad who tells him that his family will get back together when the Jets go to the Super Bowl, and so the kid wishes on a star, and then angels come from heaven to help the team, literally carrying his throws to their intended targets ... but barring that, I doubt it. I think he has a long way to go to be average.

Ah, the Mets have played a few bad games in the last few days, which was frustrating ... figured I'd check in on the other most frustrating thing in the world, the Jets QB debate!

With all due respect , I think if you'd stated " Fitzpatrick has seen the game almost 3 seconds faster" instead of "sees" , it would lend a lot more credibility to your argument. It is yet to be seen if the game has slowed down for Geno , having spent a season watching and "possibly" learning.

We all come from different backgrounds, and honestly, I'm always using mobile and correcting auto correct mistakes. Let's not insult each other.

The truth is our opinions don't matter. You think a is best, I think b is best. We can't argue our opinions are superior, because they are just opinions. We have to see how things pan out come game day.
However, the opinion of the admin, and their actions speak loudly. If our opinions are opposed to the actions of the team, we have to be honest about that fact.

This (my post) is in no way intended as an insult. The fact remains , a simple grammatical error can misrepresent an intended statement. Has Geno really learned from watching and learning? It remains to be seen.

If merely watching football helps you get better, then, well, I think we have a few people here who are due for a tryout.

Personally I higly doubt geno will ever sign another nfl contract. Could I be wrong, yes. But, I believe it's 90/10 or about 90% possible geno never does anything meaningful in this league.
Extra time gives him much needed reps, but I think who he is fundamentally, is not playoff caliber. I believe he falls short on many non starter issues, no pun intended.

I believe Fitz maximizes our current team, and geno can be an adequate place holder should Fitz miss a couple weeks. I also believe the core of our most talented players will be gone or retired in 2 or 3 years. That means give Fitz the keys until somebody else takes them away.

In the meantime we should be rebuilding through the draft so we have done great young talent in 2 plus years to inherit the team. That essentially leaves the current roster With the keys to the car and playing with house money. Let's see if we can't win some games while rebuilding through the draft.

Darrelle Revis speaks out pretty clearly to cimini today at practice.

Jets CB Darrelle Revis weighed in for the first time on the Ryan Fitzpatrick saga: "Ryan is a big part of our success. He definitely is. He came in here and he's broken a bunch of records in the quarterback category. He was a big part idiot offense. The (contract stalemate) has been going on all offseason, and we're waiting for him to come back. ... We want him back, and we want to see him walk in this locker room."

Once again, a stupid thing to say (IMO).

There's no benefit in supporting a player who's not even on the team at the expense of one who is. Do we really think Macc is in his office thinking "uh oh, Darrelle is upset -- offer Fitz the world!"

If you believe there's NO WAY Geno is our 2016 starter, then who cares. But on the 1% chance he is, how is it helping his confidence to hear all the "stars" of the team practically beg for Fitz to come back? I don't care how they truly feel -- 99% of us believe Fitz would be a better QB than Geno, especially in 2016. But he's currently not here, and until he is the ONLY smart thing to do is throw as much praise Geno's way as possible . . .

I wasn't insulted.. i made a grammatical error posting on a message board.. should I have used "seen" instead of "sees??" yes, i should have.. but even in his/her response to your post, he/she took it as a grammatical error on my part but still felt the need to call me on it.. whatever..

Fair enough, some posters on here really can't make their point without insulting dissenting members.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you're both misinterpreting his post -- he's stating that we shouldn't say Fitz "sees" (PRESENT tense) plays 3 seconds quicker, but that's how he's "seen" (PAST tense) them up to now. In a perfect world Geno has grown over the past 12 months and closed that gap.

Most don't believe that to be the case, but optimistic fans would rather not give up on the idea in June, especially when Geno is the current starter . . .

Yes I realize what he meant. I thought originally he was being a Grammer nazi.

I still think it's a weird thing to pick on. By the logic we have to describe everything in the past tense. Brady used to be better than garropolo because we haven't seen him play a game yet this year?

Because he wasn't talking about your Grammer, he was saying Fitz has seen things 3 seconds quicker, in the past tense, because geno may have shortened that gap.

I get what he was saying now, I find it an odd thing to pick out.

Even if it's not what the guy originally meant, it's still something we all have to hope for if we're really playing chicken with Fitz . . .

My implication seems not to be very clear. What I'm saying hear is that in speaking in the present , there is the implication that Geno hasn't learned , and all I'm saying is that it's wait and see. That's my main point.
