My son decided to bring the plague home with him, so I've been out of commission.
Hack was always a wild card, John gruden would have taken him in round 1 pick 3. He was and is an unknown, and his story always was, will somebody take him early and gamble.
He's a big body, big arm, leader, with piss poor tape that's not his fault, and had taken quite a beating. Definition of a gamble.
My memory must be wrong, I remember a lot of reports all over the place putting him late 3rd early 4th.
Really my point though, was this, drafting him mid 2nd round by the Jets, as a 4th qb was quite an investment because of the quality of"position players" that were available.
The Jets are a team that had issues with depth and a lack of young starters, and that 2nd pick was vital. As is getting those picks right. So we chose to gamble our 2nd pick on a project 4th strong qb with good measurables. It might turn out great for us, but that doesn't make it less of a gamble.
Mac is a personnel guy, and I like his choices thus far.
