Fitzpatrick Thread -- Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets agree to 1-year, $12M deal

You're using one season to respond with a schedule that was a cupcake at it's most frightening. Lets see what they do this season when they are playing bonafide playoff schedule...

When Rex Ryan went 9-7, 11-5, 8-8, 6-10, 8-8, 4-12 does anyone remember who was on the schedule those seasons or just their record those years?
When Peyton Manning, while playing for the Colts, goes 13- 3 almost every year while playing in the AFC south and beating up on those softballs year after year getting his team basically 6 wins a season. In the record books does it state the weaker teams he always beat up on or is it just his stats.

Patriots 2015, 12-4:
They beat the Steelers, Bills, Jaguars, Cowboys, Colts, Dolphins, Redskins, Giants, Bills x2, Texans, Titans, Jets.
They lost to the Jets, Dolphins, Eagles & Broncos.
Jets 2015, 10-6:
They beat Browns, Colts, Dolphins x2, Redskins, Jaguars, Giants, Titans, Cowboys & Patriots.
They lost to Patriots, Raiders, Texans, Eagles & Bills x2. Minus the Browns for the Steelers and the Raiders for the Broncos and it's the same. Patriots went to the AFC championship. There was no * on the schedule they played.
Now I understand, being a lifelong Jet fan, about getting hopes up for the coming season. It is much easier on the mind to go in all gloom and doom with no expectations. That way, it wont hurt as much if they fail. It is much easier to predict that they will suck and hope you are proven wrong, no one will care because the Jets are winning. Though to discount achievements already accomplished, what's the point?
Nobody is going to go back on a coaches record for wins and losses, let's say Parcells, and cherry pick the bad teams he beat to discount his overall record.
This years schedule for the Jets is brutal, I get what you're saying but that is why you have to play the games. Who knows what young player might step up for the Jets and become that difference maker that makes the other teams scared to play the Jets.

i misspoke.. while both are clearly dopes, i meant to refer to them both clearly being creeps..

endangering the life of a minor racing cars trumps intentionally knocking over an elderly college coach in my book..

so yeah, advantage richardson..

Yeah, I agree. it's just easier for me to turn a blind eye on Richardson's behavior, he can actually play football.

In the long view of things though your right, what Richardson did could have turned out horrific.

I still say Geno Smith is clearly the biggest idiot out of the two of them. Getting into an altercation with a teammate because he stiffed him out of $600. That right there is the stuff of legends. Geno might just be the biggest f*cking retard on the planet for me...

i think we are now splitting hairs.. is smith the bigger idiot between the two?? probably.. like FL mentioned, at least richardson is a legitimately good at being an NFL football player.. so he can show his ass more & get away with it.. plus nobody is asking richardson to be a leader.. just keep keep tackling people behind the LOS, stop smoking weed & stop endangering minors..

why i agree smith is the bigger idiot is because he's not a good NFL player.. & i'll nip this in the bud for the "tenses police," maybe he still can become a good NFL QB, (hell, maybe namath can make a comeback) because anything is possible, right??

LOLz i do give smith a better shot at being a successful NFL QB going foward over joe's comeback.. slightly..

Hopefully soon. With Mo off the list, that leaves Fitz.

Its imminent my friend and let me tell ya. Geno will not be a happy camper. IMHO, he will ask for his release or a trade to a team that he would actually have a chance to compete. That chance he wont have here.

On that note, we shouldnt be adhering to what the media has to say any longer. Especially how the news broke out on Mo. Behind closed doors is how this regime operates.
In essence, when the outlets say Bryce Petty isnt ready to assume the #2 role or even compete for it, i call BS!

There wasn't a single leak on the mo deal. The media thought they weren't even talking for weeks, and it the Jets who broke the story, not the media.

This deal leaves more flexibly for a Fitz deal. Mac is very clear Fitz is his first choice at qb. No matter how good your team is, your qb can flush your season down the drain.

No matter what you think of geno, you're not betting your season on, geno or die.

The Mo Wilkerson deal creates $5.7 million in cap room for the Jets. His new cap charge is $10 million, per ESPN's Dan Graziano. The old charge (franchise tag) was $15.7 million. They had $3.4 million in space before the deal. Now they have more flexibility as they try to sign QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Mo deal shouldn't increase the Fitz deal much. They still have to have money for flexibility for injuries.I don't know the total dollar amount we have, but I trust Mac to not crush our cap for Fitz.

3.4 cap room plus 5.7 increase in cap space from mo deal equals 9.1

Don't forget we still need room for #1 pick. I think the value is about $10.5 million over 3 years, so straight-lined about $3.5 a year. I realize signing bonuses are spread evenly, but bottom line is we are going to have to factor Lee's contract in when discussing available money for Fitz.

How is Lee not signed?? I heard he was using his mom like Eli Apple switched to his mom. His mom just wants to famous. I hope NY eats her alive in a few years.

I get the idea of keeping the agents cut in the family, but what does your mom know about nfl negotiations? She doesn't know the people or how the clauses may affect you.

It depends on the structure. The Jets were offering Fitz a6 mill base and 6 mill bonus when they only had 3.5 in cap space, so they clearly have a plan. I believe Marshall may take a cut.

Also, if Milner is cut, that's lees money. We will have moves in camp, and there is a plan. I'm guessing we're going to watch guys in camp and manage the cap just fine.

Someone corrected me on a different thread about Lee's mom's role. She will not be handling his contract negotiations, but will serve as a 'business manager' who handles endorsements etc. I never knew there was a difference, but apparently there is. BTW - she is already famous in her own right as she was a news anchor in their home state. In retrospect, it looks like the reason for the hold up in getting his contract done was that MMac was lining up funds to get MO signed long term. Now perhaps we'll see both Fitz and Lee in the fold in time for training camp.

The Geno stuff would be irrelevant if only Bryce Petty had shown progress. Instead, this guy appears to be just a bad pick really? Geno Smith, for crying out loud, was able to be much better even in his rookie season Thhan Bryce Petty in one season and change. This is NOT a glowing endorsement of Bryce Petty.
