whatever i think of the guy, he was 10-6 last season.. but let's not forget, he had plenty of WTF moments.. they seem much more glaring this season because of all of the losing..

what's really gotten under my skin lately is him absolutely insisting lack of "effort" has not been an issue during this historically awful run..

it's always "blown assignments.."

LOLz as if his team never knowing what the hell they are doing is somehow a less damning reflection of his coaching??

I do agree with you on this. There has been an appalling lack of effort several times this year, yet he never called out the team for that.

That said, the same was true under Rex. The effort may have been there on Sundays, but it wasn't Tuesday through Saturday, yet he always defended his players.

The big difference is, Bowles was supposed to be the anti-Rex, the accountability guy.

listen I know you hate him with a passion but you can not JUST blame him without giving him credit for the successful failure of last season...

it wasn't his fault that Fitzpatrick & Gailey's offense could NOT get it done against the Bills in the final game, matter of fact they had three games in the final four to win that one more game to get us into the playoffs...

can't give credit to one last year without also giving blame...

in the end the TEAM failed to make the playoffs not just Bowles...

I am not going to sit here and debate with everyone on why I believe this guy can be successful and with our team, when he (IF) he does it moving forward then you will see but I just have to be patient and wait for him to do it... First getting rid of the waste, old guys on the roster and turnover (complete the overhaul) they started when he got here...

To me, this is key. You cannot place blame for this year on Bowles without giving credit for last year. If you do, you're biased and disingenuous.

He deserves both credit for last year's 10-6 team and blame for this year's disaster.

The big concern I have is how awful Jets fans can be. For some, Bowles never had them, for one reason or another. Some hated him from the start, no matter what he did, based on them liking Rex, or some other factor they didn't like about Bowles. Others, he lost this year. He might win some (not all, but some) of them back next year, but only with about an 11-12 win season, and the team isn't built to do that. It's a work in progress. So if the Jets make progress next year, have a young QB show signs of developing into "The Guy," and a younger roster that has solid, if raw, talent, the media and the Bowles haters will join forces to ensure he is gone. That will only stall out the build mid-stream.

Disagree, if you do not believe your eyes and what others state here then enjoy your alternate reality. The proof is the 4 or 5 blowout losses, team being unprepared, being outcoached, etc. If you do not think the players know when a coach has it or not your fooling yourself... he started to lose the team in KC and finished the job @ Pitt. Since then they have played like S***.

I think Bowles could have more luck with a younger locker room. If he lost guys, he's lost some of the problem veterans on the team, like Marshall and Richardson.

I also think he may have a longer leash with players because very few head coaches have been in their shoes, on the field. So I don't necessarily buy into the argument that he does not have the respect of the players.

The problem is, if he hasn't lost the locker room, how do you explain the horribly flat performances the team has had (Arizona, Indy, NE, the second half against Miami)?

I would make this team all about young talent, keep expectations realistic, and let the team develop. If the fans are really hungry for a legit contender, they will endure it, as long as there are signs of progress.

I just wish I had faith in Jets fans, and in the rabidly anti-Jets local and national media who love to feed into the #LOLJets mentality.

He's quiet because he actually is shy outside of the team, it's not a persona or a character he's playing. He's uncomfortable in front of the limelight, but obviously had given some fiery speeches as reported.

He's known for piecing together an injured yet dominant Arizona defense. We have no where near the talent he had in Arizona,not even close. In a passing league,a secondary guru is a good mentality to pursue.

it's the obvious lack of effort.. the missed assignments that have absolutely never been fixed.. the players saying & doing whatever the hell they feel like saying or doing.. then when the media calls him out on it, the catch phrase is something like "we have/will handle those things internally.. AKA "don't worry, i got this.." yeah, if only..

Hey, I was all for kicking idzik the hell out his first year, and definitely afraid in year 2 that he would get a3rd year. He nose dived our drafts. I think Bowles gets a3rd year to prove his body of work. I personally, wouldn't hire a first time coach unless I was willing to have growing pains. We have pains combined with cancers and a roster flip.

I'll make one last comment on this subject... during the season I said I lost faith in the HC and CS to turn this season around. They didn't for whatever reasons? The team flat out played poorly in all three phases of the game in most of the games this year and in embarrassingly fashion. Frankly, to be non competitive because of talent disparity is one thing but to not show up and play, get out coached week in and week out is for me "totally" unacceptable.

To be honest, I thought he made some decent decisions last year with respect to Geno and Rich fiascos but then this year. People say we need to give him credit for last year well that is all fine and dandy BUT then we need to think about why the entire team, CS and players became so dysfunctional and regressed.

When the team you coach is equated to Kotite teams that is an of itself an indictment of unparalleled ineptitude. For me he is at this point a Mr K clone and for me he should be fired on B- Monday.

1-A coach who is proven IE: Coughlin , Payton ,etc

2-Throw enough $ someone will come

3- How about putting a competitive team on the field that shows heart? It's not only wins and losses . This team is just flat

Not only is he a terrible coach ,The team has absolutely bailed on this coaching staff
When that happens ( plain to see ) it's time to move on
Poor game plans if any , no adjustments , motivation haha , time management , communication , players in right positions are all a joke.
