Geno/Petty/Fitz -- All QB Talk here - MERGED

This season has gotten out of hand. At 1-5 and at the rate we're going, this team will have a new Coach next season while possibly keeping Mike Maccagnan as the GM. IMHO, i feel the ultimate plan with Geno Smith was to eventually hold on to him just to get something out of him by the trade deadline. If Fitzpatrick played well, then we could have waited until that November. Unfortunatley, that is not the case any longer.

Since Geno was never in this regimes plans from the get go, its time to expedite the learning curve and see what Bryce Petty has with in these remaining 10 games.He was by far the best QB in preseason. Of course it was against 3rd stringers, but i'd rather see what Petty has than what we've all already have seen of Smith and Fitz for that matter.

Woody must intervene and accept the truth of the matter. We need to get the young players in there and have a youth movement. We must begin from scratch. Though it's evident that Bowles doesnt want to deviate from what he has been doing: Not doing anything.


A huge indication if Petty will play will be this Sunday versus the Ravens is if he is inactivated again and he's 100%...Then Bowles will hear it from the fans and will want him fired. Bryce MUST BE ACTIVATED. These remaining games need to give this kid some sort of game time experience that he can learn from entering 2017.


Also, in last nights game, Gruden had asked Bowles why they have 4 QBs on the roster. Gruden stated that Bolwes responded as "You will see soon enough". Any one else catch that?


In any case, Hopefully Petty starts very soon.

disagree if anyone deserves a shot it is Geno, I hate saying this but he has been getting the reps and brought a spark to last night's game...

Bryce still needs another off season... Come next season I believe he will be ready to start the season as the starter...

my reasoning is come next we will need a veteran quarterback on the roster, and offering Geno a 1 year deal to compete for the starting job against Petty... don't get it wrong I want Petty to start but we can not just hand the job to him, he will have to earn it... of course what comes to play if this or any current coaches are still with the team... but lets say Gailey is, Geno knows this offense and would be an optimal competitor for Petty to compete...

I see our QB as thinking something he produces everyday does not stink. I really dislike him as a player but even more as a person. It might be me but I wish he was somewhere else. I love the Jets but I really don't like many of the players at this time & he is the worse of the lot. I don't like anything about him.

Fitzpatrick analyzes pre snap and predetermines his primary receivers, unfortunately he has misread defensive schemes and looks boggled after the snap... Fitz also has tunnel vision for Brandon Marshall his main target 75% of the time... This is why he is the Achilles Heel on our team... Marshall would do well on those one on one battles but only way for us to get him those chances is Fitz or whomever is the QB needs to spread the ball around too one of our two backs and the young receivers including Q and our newly claimed tight end who actually was inactive last night...

Game plan as well needs to allow the rushing attack to set the tone, not so much play action pass but physically pounding the d line to soften up the pass rush which would buy more time in the pass game to find the open receiver(s)...

When Geno entered the game there was a clear oomph to the offense especially with Q's big gain right off the bat... Crossing routes work well for our offense but for some reason Fitz doesn't throw over the middle unless it is up the seam...

LOL, I don't think anyone dislikes Fitzgargage, F-ints-Patrick and Fitzhorrible more then me. I think everyone on this board knows this, LOL. I do agree that it was a light of my life to see Geno come in, strictly because Fitz was going to the bench. I'm hoping Fitz never se another down as a Jet but ofcourse that won't be the case. However, I'm no Geno fan anymore either but I'd rather see Geno play anyday over Fitzgarbage. We wouldn't have this problem if the Jets would play Petty or better yet, drafted the forth rounder Dak FUCKING Prescott this year. OR-OR, did whatever it took to trade and draft Wentz.

One of the other things he does is force balls out instead of away or taking a sack..

I agree with Dan.

Fitz and Geno are hot garbage, Hack has bust written all over him (can't hit water if he was throwing the ball off a boat), but I have real hope for Petty. The sad part is, this HC is so clueless, channeling Clueless Kotite, that he will go to Geno if and when he finally feels compelled to make a change, never mind that Geno is in his walk year and there's no way he's coming back, so it makes no sense for him to see the field before Petty, but I've lost all confidence in Bowles making logical and rational decisions.

To be clear, I'm not completely writing off Hack, but the lack of accuracy I saw in the preseason was alarming, I'm not sure if that can be fixed, and even if it can, its a massive reclamation project, so he's not even on the radar right now.

The only guy who makes any sense at this point is Bryce Petty.

THIS OFFENSE SCHEMES ARE THE SAME ONES THAT GOT GAILEY & FITZPATRIC FIRED IN BAFFALO! Same garbage with Gailey calls first & 10 is a pss 10-20yds & 2nd down is run up the middle & then the usual 3rd & 8-9-10 & Fitz passes for 2 to 5 yds. Watch Gailey has Jets at 3rd & 8 all the time. Running up the middle with our Center Mangold isnt going to work! Mangold isnt close to being himself 5 years ago. Mangold misses Blocks getting Fitz Sacked & Fitz-Geno telegraphs their passes & will get our WR's hurt! Geno can only play from Shotgun & cant take the ball under Center! Time for Petty or Hackenburg! I rather see Hackenburg to show what a BUST his was at 2nd & a bad draft pick by MM missing Dak of Dallas. PETTY is the best QB on the team!! Accurate passer ,but needs to learn & sometimes also telegrahs passes. Nothing like the other 3 QB's.

I'm with you but you, I and everyone else knows it won't happen. TB, the rest of his offensive coaching staff and Mac are to stupid for that. Woody will probably let them make the decisions because he's not a meddling owner like that. They still believe they can win (which is cool) but they still feel the best chance for them to win is with Fitzgarbage and that is not cool. Fitz will continue to play until they lose about 5 more games and then we'll see Petty (maybe-maybe). Fucking joke!!

Reason I say Geno over Bryce or Hack is both Hack and Petty in college lost confidence because of poor offensive line play...

My question to you guys, do you think it is fair to put Bryce and/or Hack behind this broken offensive line?

Talk about un-developing a player quickly...

Geno knows this team, he knows this system and as we saw last night he is made quick decisions and ripped the ball instead of holding it...

Petty or Hack are not ready to run this game plan, behind this line that has been below average at best...

So its all about finding a QB for 2017, is it not?

If that be the case, Geno is in the walk year of his contract and he's not coming back, nobody in his right mind thinks Geno will be on this team next year, the QB in 2017 will be Petty, Hack or someone else who is not even here now.

That said, smart management says NOW is the time to get as long a look as we can get at Petty, so we have a better idea of what we have and we can proceed accordingly.

Also nothing makes me madder than JETS humiliated & beaten down like a College team on NATIONAL TV!!!! Other ones are getting beat by big scores by PATRIOTS! I dont mind losing a close game & we should be able to keep it close! But JETS are not even competitive at all & its due to GAILEYS OFFENSIVE SCHEMES! WHY cant JETS see this? Why cant Bowles order Gailey on the field so he can talk to him & have a feel for the Offensive Players? Why isnt the QB change happening last week & this week? Reason I say Geno over Bryce ...

With all due respect, any reason(s) for Geno over Petty is flawed thinking.

1. Petty needs the reps and this is a perfect opportunity to get past the growing pains stage of every young QB's career in meaningless games, where rookie mistakes won't cost us anything, heck, if anything they will get us a higher draft pick, but this is an ideal spot to get Petty 10 NFL Games that don't matter in the grand scheme of things, let the game slow down for him, and let him get a lot of the growing pains out of his system.

2. The longer the look you get at Petty this year, the better idea you will have on how to proceed at QB for 2017 and beyond. Why cheat yourself out of valuable scouting reps in live NFL Games when every scouting rep gives you more information to judge.

3. Lastly, this also give you a chance to see how Petty progresses over a ten game stretch. If you see a kid that keeps improving with more reps and more games, then you know the arrow is pointing up, but if you see no progression over a ten game span, then you better draft another QB high.

Not being on the team I can only go by the past. As a backup & getting more practice time this would give petty time to grow with the big boys & be part of the action without being put in he fire of the game. It would allow him to grow.

Give Geno a few games & see how he does for this year. Let petty learn

Clady is one n done...
Carpenter could be on the trade block but I doubt it...
Mangold has another year or two left but his time is ending, trade? Draft replacement...
Winters is a free agent, see how fast he runs away... Chris Watts replacement?
Ijalana or Qvale? For me Ijalana needs to return as starter just because he is a formidable backup left tackle as capable starter at right tackle...

Dakota Dozier could likely be gone, Brandon Shell needs a lot of time maybe too much then what we have to offer and Wesley Johnson is a serviceable interior backup for both guard and center position...

Geno right now behind this o line has some continuity through practice, he has the quick timing needed compared to Petty or Hack at this point...

Start Geno this week, Fitz as #2. Then after Petty gets in enough snaps in practice, let him start games after the bye.
