Geno gets a 4 game audition... Needs to win at least 3 of the 4 to continue playing after the by.... Once the team reaches 7 losses they will turn to Petty to see what he can do..... And get an idea of if wee need a QB in this draft of can Petty play in the NFL... if not someone to come in and compete with Hack for the future... Personally I don't think the Jets want to do anything to impede Hacks development and want to get him ready for 2018... Just my opinion
i'm on record here that my hope was smith would never take another meaningful snap for the jets ever again.. LOLz so much for that..
as much as i've been a supporter of fitzpatrick, aside from the buffalo game he's been dreadful.. obviously..
that said, this ain't a popularity contest, so "next man up.."

That's the question that needs answering. As far I am concerned. I have NO doubt in my mind that Geno sucks and that will inevitably show in his play. I do not want this idiot ruining a golden opportunity to see what guys like Bryce Petty can do.
So my hope is that Bowles will have Geno on a very short leash and pull the plug at the first of his idiot self over and over.........
If you listen to the coaches presser today he left the door open for future changes... meaning Petty could be on the horizon when - as in when - he is fit to play. The coach stated that he needs reps so reading between the lines he will get more and more and after the bye and maybe after the Pats game he is in... that is my hope.
As for Geno we saw all we needed to last week... I have no faith this guy gets it or ever will but he is the next man up so ....

The move to Geno reeks of desperation and I'm not a fan of rewarding an idiot who was literally throwing a temper tantrum on the sideline because Fitz threw an INT and he wasn't playing.
We already knew the first 6 or so games that we had one of if not the toughest schedule in the league. 2-3 wins there would have been optimal but the reality is no one picked up to win more than 1-2 of those games (real talk).
So we come out flat, get exposed on both sides of the ball and accomplish exactly what everyone thought we would accomplish..... So why panic now? Our schedule is going to lighten up and we have an opportunity to turn things around. Why go to someone who could never get it done no matter what the circumstances were?

So Fitz gets all the leeway and as many games as possible but Geno has to be snatched at the first sign of a screw up? I wonder why that is and very very parcular! Come on, lets be real and some what fair here. Fitz gets 6 games or 5 and 3/4 of a game rather and it appears Geno can't get a half of game (from the way your post reads IMO). Same goes with a few other posters as well. Geno should get 4 games atleast. Doesn't mean he will do anything good with it and I don't think he will but give the guy four games atleast. Our season is shot anyway so what difference does it make? Once Geno screws it up and we all know he will, Petty can get the last six games. I would say that's fair and no need to mention our second round all world draft pick Hack, who can't even get team reps now. While a certain fourth rounder is tearing it up in Dallas. Fucking joke!
If the Jets would have drafted Dak our QB issues would be solved. Seems like it would be solved if they drafted Cody Kessier also.

I agree that Geno deserves a chance but it needs to be almost all world or lets move on after 2 games. As far as Dak goes, I believe he benefits from the best OL in the league and probably the best rookie RB in a long time. Its not like he is throwing 3 TD's a game and 300 yards. If he was he it wouldn't be even close to the same result. He is not making mistakes which is nice, but he is not on our team and 32 teams passed on him 3-4 times. Maybe Petty is the answer and maybe Geno has grown. All I know is Fit is the same guy he has always been and I knew this would be the result. Luckily the front office did as well and didnt commit 3 years to him.

That would have been tough to do although I think most of us were hoping for pretty much the same thing. Petty due to his injury has not been practicing. I think they give Geno until the bye week, if he plays well, he stays in, otherwise it's petty time.

Part of me is sad for Fitz. Fitz is a great leader who unfortunately has never really had very good QB skills, but the players ALWAYS believed in him and that speaks volumes. Regardless, Fitz chances are all dried up. I am glad the Jets are moving on and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
With that said, Ham called it and to my dismay GENO will be starting? Was Todd Bowles even watching Geno Monday night? It took that retard a mere 6 passes to already start reverting to the Geno of old. Geno has NEVER had it between the ears and he never will. Todd Bowles must have been dropped on his head as a kid to ever think about going with Geno. He is not the future of this team. All they are doing here by playing him is playing someone else's property and giving him reps. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Anyway, I am done with Todd Bowles. He's garbage and it has never been any more obvious than right now that Rex Ryan was a better HC than Todd Bowles is. Remember this team has talent and is playing so badly. Rex in 2014 had almost no talent at all on the team. So the debacle is far worse in this case given all the talent that is very much underperforming all across the board. Todd Bowles has no idea how to motivate players. The sleepwalking this team has been doing since beating Rex's Bills ironically enough, only reinforces what most fans saw in the mid part of last season.
My hope is just as much as Todd Bowles is evaluating a possible QB solution for the future, Mac is also evaluating Bowles and putting out feelers for replacements during the offseason.

thing I don't understand when I see it is the comments that say Geno deserves the opportunity. Someone please explain to me what he has done that makes him so deserving? He had his chance to play regularly. He has been a bad teammate and petulant child on the sidelines. I would love to see a good reason for him being deserving of starting.

There is nothing wrong with having confidence about your own abilities. That is sort of a prerequisite to being a starting QB in this league......
Fitz/Geno forget wasting time on! Petty just back from injury cant start. So that leaves 2nd round pick Mackenburg who the reason for Drafting was he knows & played a pro style Offense! So Mackenburg has a bigger advantage over the current 4 rookie QB's that started this season & all have done well, even 4th round Dak of Dallas! So lets see Mackenburg for 10 games & I dont want to hear BS that he isnt ready when 4 rookies who never played in a Pro Style in College are in & doin g fine! If Jets dont start Mackenburg its because of the REAL reason...he is a 6th round pick or a BUST like the Entire NFL Teams & Scouts have said. I think Mikey Mac is covering Mackenburg draft mistake if he doesnt play him. So lets see him play
