Believe it or not, Geno Smith showed improvement in QB Rating (77.5 vs 66.4), accuracy % (67.4% to 72.3%), interception % (4.7 to 3.5) and completion % (55.8 to 59.7).

After the benching, his improvement was even better. Anyone have any numbers showing his performance with and without Harvin on the field? I also noticed that when Smith gets rid of the ball within 2.5 seconds, his rating is astonishingly ... among the top five NFL QBs. After that ... not so good. He needs to improve under pressure. Replacing Winters with Aboushi obviously helped because he was under pressure less.

In any event, Smith's improvement was significant.

Let's all hope he spends his off season practicing football and keeping his penis off the internet.

I'm hoping he can keep improving. I hate the thought that we could give up on him just before he's ready to take off.

For sure he'll be in camp next year. Hopefully he'll be competing with 2 other QB's. A younger draft pick, and an older hold the fort guy.

If he can establish himself as a ligit #1 , good for him. I don't think it will happen, if he's the best of the rest he should play. It's gotta be real competition with real players.

He didn't pass the eye test for me. He makes the same mistakes over and over. Runs backwards when pressured, doesn't throw the ball away and is overall careless with the ball. I am hoping we hire some type of QB guru that can guide him the right way. He has the tools, it's getting the game to slow down for him that needs to happen.

Geno did not pass the eye test for me either. When I saw his numbers, I was surprised.

They thought they hired the best QB guru in David Lee.

Agree 100%. I didn't have a problem when we drafted him...but I never imagined he would be so careless with the ball. I think he has skills to be a decent QB but how many more opportunities do we give him.

see?? numbers can lie or at least be misleading..

Misleading? How? I never came to a conclusion! All I said was that I was surprised and that the improvement was significant. Maybe the numbers are telling a story we don't see? In that case maybe what we see is misleading us. It works both ways. We examine the numbers, then watch the reruns, and learn. Again and again. Anyway it's certainly a positive sign.

well my guess is the redskins will give away griffin for a song even with his fancy numbers you've shared with the board..

the jets would do the same with smith if their QB situation behind him weren't so dire..

I would hope that next summer is it. He needs to come in and win the job without any question. If he's up against a "hold the fort guy" or a Brett Hundley or Winston or all three, he's got to show that he's going to improve at the rate he did this past year: QBR 77 to 88; interception % down from 3.5 to at least 2.6; Completion % from 59 to 65. TD's up, less fumbles.

I think there's room for improvement in his play under pressure.

I think the Skins are reconsidering, as are the Rams with Bradford. The Skins might see Winston drop in their lap and then let RG3 go via trade. I actually talked to fans in KC who think there's a possibility that Alex Smith may be gone. They regard their back ups as more than viable, and Smith is making too much $$

You know how much love I have for RG3. RG3 and Smith in a real competition in camp? Yeah, I'd like that. Use the number 6 on Green-Beckham. Green Beckham Harvin Decker and Kerley. + Amaro ... Not too shabby.

it wouldn't shock me at all if griffin gets picked up by the jets to compete with smith..

Under the new CBA, the Jets are not allowed to hire a coach to work with him in the off season. Young players are not allowed to talk to coaches about football matters in the off season. What an insane rule. It was at the insistence of the veterans so that they couldn't be forced to come in during the off season, and to make it more difficult for aggressive rookies to take their jobs. Crazy

Smith did hire a QB coach he worked with for a week or so, it didn't help

I think Cooper will be gone by 6. Green-Beckham has issues (I read he's a pot head). I actually have only seen snippets of his play, but from what I read he's great. But it's all a crap shoot. I defer to Bradway, who I hope remains with the team.

The real story is that he screamed, hollered and nearly came to blows with Tannenboob was offering to piss away two draft picks to.Denver for the worst QB in NFL history. The owner saw it happen which is why, when Tebow proved to be the colossal bust Bradway said he would be, Tannenboob was sh1tcanned and Bradway remained
