Geno Smith worked out with Tom House (Brady's personal QB coach) during offseason

I hear but disagree bait. Unless we draft Winston by some chance, I don't see Fitz or any other rookie beating out Geno this year period. Mariota will be a project like Geno was and will need at least a year to be ready to go. The other rookie QBs will be projects also that will need a year or more. If I'm right then Geno is automatically the #2 and I don't see Fitz beating Geno out in anyway at all, which will make Geno the #1 . Question is, can he play well enough the entire season and keep the job and also stay healthy? As long as he can stay healthy, with this roster that is not complete yet and still building I believe Geno will keep the job all year and do very well. Lets not forget about Gailey and Bowles who will put Geno in the best positions to produce. Its all about Geno making something positive happen with it and I think he has learned enough over the past two years to do positive things but we'll see.

Lol, you are just too funny. I see you don't have much of a rebuttal for my excuse of a garbage team and EVEN worse coaching and management for two straight years because its true and you know it is. No rookie QB could have really had a chance of having great numbers with the nonsense Geno had to deal with. Even your must pro style ready QBs like your Andrew Luck of the world would have struggled. Maybe not as much but he would have struggled.

Hell, Luck struggled abit with Indy his rookie year so your telling me he wouldn't have struggled under Rex, Idzik and those teams for two years. I'm excited to see what geno can do this year because with this team, the coaching and management he has now and the hard knock lessons he took over the past two years, he should be ready to ball out this year. We still have our bet and I have full confidence Geno will handle his business.

Unless I'm missing something and maybe I am, Fitz has never accomplished the kind of numbers Vinny did with us or Kurt Warner did in his best or later years with Cardinals or Warren Moon ever did really. So unless I'm wrong here hoping Fitz to do what they did is just or even more far fetched then Geno playing well. Fitz has played ten plus years and never put up the numbers those guys did in their 30's or maybe even period and Geno has only played two years with a garbage team and even worse management and coaching. Given Geno's position I'd say he has just as much of a chance as Fitz does or no chance at all as Fitz does.

when someone is quoted the ignore feature doesn't work

it only works so you can't see his post directly but if you keep qouting each other your defeating the purpose of the ignore function.

in short your doing it to yourselves.

That's the thing, I'm not responding to his post nor do I respond to him period. He keeps responding to mine and that shouldn't be if he's on ignore. I have responding to one of his his post in general but not to him directly. If I need to not do that then I will.

when you or him qoute each other that will show up regardless if you have him on ignore or not, the only way to not see it is don't qoute or respond to each other and hope another poster doesn't qoute either otherwise you will see it.

If you two can't figure it out just stay out of this thread.

Great advice and I appreciate it. I will take it under advisement.

I hear you and understand but all I can say to you is this, Geno had garbage teams both years he was here. Year one his offense was the worst in the NFL in years period but the D was respectable. The second year his offense was abit better with Decker and Amaro but nothing really worth talking about and the D was horrible pretty much. This can not be argued as they are facts. Lets not forget the horrid coaching and GM he had. This year he has a real team, coaching and management and the team isn't done building yet. Call it excuses if you want but I call them facts. If Geno can't make something positive happen this year then he shouldn't be a Jet period and TRUST ME, I will shut the hell up about this period and move on!

We definitely disagree on your definition of "facts".

To me, the "facts" are:
1) he routinely made bad decisions
2) he consistently didn't protect the ball
3) his accuracy left much to be desired, missing OPEN receivers by 5 yards
4) HE WAS BENCHED

Which of those would you attribute to being surrounded by horrible talent? And which do you think will magically change now that we have Brandon Marshall?

I hate even making these posts, because OF COURSE I want the kid to succeed. It just amazes me that you (and others) are practically expecting it, whereas I (and others) expect it as much as winning the lottery we never entered . . .

Terrific post. Agree completely.

It's what Parcells said about records. You are what you are and if you stink for two seasons, there is no NFL fairy dust that can be magically sprinkled in your locker to remove the stink

You know what's funny...I started reading your post and forgot which thread I clicked...I thought you were talking about Winston for a second...because all were true of him last year until I got to point 4...

The guy threw 18 picks in 13 games against college talent...and Cossell said the defense dropped 13 more...imagine 31 INTs in 13 games against college talent...but he'll go #1 .

All this talk wont matter who our QB is if we never give them time to develop...all these convos sound like our fans want Aaron Rodgers day 1 after we draft them. Kind of sad sometimes...

Can't argue anything your saying because its true and they are facts. I guess and this may only be my opinion that we both stressed proven facts of Geno's setbacks the last two years. Whether it be on him strictly or the team and coaching being a factor. I think two years experience of getting his brains beat in will help his improvement also. We'll see where this all falls and how he does. We all want the best for our beloved Jets and want a true franchise QB to lead our team. I think we can agree on that and this, in the long run it doesn't matter who is the QB that is doing it. We just want someone to do it! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

hahahahahahahaha

Tell that to Steve Young, Vinny T, Drew Brees, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, etc, etc....no one is ever good after stinking 2 NFl seasons, if they stink they stink, end of story...you are 100% right again!

Please, just stop. Other than Geno turning the Jets into the Buccaneers-like teams that Vinny and Young and Aikman had to suffer on for their first two seasons, your skewed comparison is totally senseless.

Or maybe you actually think Smith is going to turn into any of those guys EVER which is equally senseless

A BUST

Time to admit it, stop blaming sunspots and UFOS for it and MOVE ON from this nightmare at QB for the Jets

It is just amazing how some posters can say Geno will never amount to being anything and two years of experience won't help. However; you give them facts of others QBs that have done it after two or more years of struggling and it means nothing. When they point out what Geno is or isn't, IT'S FACTS. When we point what Geno is or isn't, IT'S EXCUSES. For some, they truly feel Geno won't get it right without any bias at all. They just feel he hasn't shown anything to make them feel different but if he does, I guess they ride with him. For others, there just seems to be some other kind of motivation behind it. Funny isn't it!

Also, part of being a franchise QB is handling pressure/adversity. So some of these team issues may have impacted him, true, and that can be seen as a reason to believe he could play better next season. But his failure to handle those issues successfully could also certainly be seen as an argument against him. Maybe no QB could have won the Super Bowl with last year's Jets team. But I do think some of them could have won more games with all the same issues swirling around the team.
