lol...you want to play a game of semantics and stick by likely cost him instead of cost him, go for it. the rest of my post still holds.

again, you have no idea if the shoulder LIKELY cost him draft position. now if you want to say it MAY HAVE cost him, i could accept that phrasing. LIKELY seems to indicate a greater than 50% chance (perhaps significantly higher) of costing him.

perhaps this wasn't covered at penn state:

Full Definition of LIKELY

: having a high probability of occurring or being true : very probable <rain is likely today>

Damn Hobson, I don't understand you. People come here and give their opinions and all you do is rip them apart. Why don't you respect others opinions. You go to a scumbag school like Michigan and yet brag about it. Michigan is only known for 3 things (Football, Basketball & Hockey). Nothing else. Sure you had a few students who went on to make a name for themselves out side of football, what school hasn't. Nothing to brag about. Your a kid who was never good at sports when growing up, but you probably knew the stats of every MLB and NFL player. You go into the Corporate world commanding respect from others. You don't Command Respect, you Earn Respect! So you come to all these Jets sites with all your knowledge about football and shit on other posters opinions. I don't like you Hobson because your nothing but a "Yes man who commands respect"!

I would like to think that anyone, when presented new evidence, is entitled to change their minds.

That's one of the problems I have with the whole armchair GMing on message boards. There is often a greater desire to be right than to have what's best for the team.

Some people rooted against Sanchez, just to be right. Some have rooted against Geno for the very same reason. Some would rather be right about their negative reactions than be wrong and have the team (or a player) pleasantly surprise them.

For me, I care far more about the Jets winning than about ego. I didn't get the Sheldon Richardson pick. I'm SOOOOOO happy I was wrong.

Everybody on this site is an ARM CHAIR GM (you included) or else they would not be here. What do you think all the Drafts were for. You Kiper, McShay, Cimini and everyone else putting the input into these Drafts. Everyone has an OPINION on the DRAFT. That's what ARM CHAIR GM's are!!!!!

55 and Hobson don't need my backing, but c'mon these are two of the most knowledgeable posters on this site (no offense to anyone else here). Are they opinionated and tough on others at times, yes absolutely but this forum is a much better place for their contributions.

I was a statistics minor (switched from major to minor and picked up Economics last minute), you Wolverine, probable is not the same as definitive. As you said, the word likely could be 51% to 99%, but isn't 100%.

Lets both hope with 99% certainty that Williams is the next Reggie White.

And we pick our battles against each other now...not so much when I was young (Im not sure Greg was ever young, much like Gatsby but less handsome, though I am sure he attended Michigan...no one would lie about such things ;)).

I dont think the personal attack on him or his university is warranted based on his alternate opinion. He can be rigid, but I dont think he deserves a personal attack. might be going too far. I do think its fair to ask why he's being a pain in the ass "on a topic," rather than attacking him personally.

had to vote 'A'........when you start with the recognized best player in draft, it's tough to fall far....but the GM then proceeded to fill needs. Time will tell just how well he drafted, but for now I'm very happy with the results. The last pick I found somewhat curious....if anything I figured they might double down on WR or OL. I did see some decent post-draft signings as well, especially the TE.

I don't see the shoulders as likely either. Mariota screwed things up....he didn't belong in the top 15 talent wise so it pushed everyone down a notch. The Jags were the wildcard. They have a defensive minded HC and he simply decided he wanted the pass rushing LB. Oakland was a no-brainer for Cooper (kept hoping Al Davis would channel his son and take the speedy White). Washington was smoking some weed. They had already addressed the DL in free agency and felt the OL was pressing need. Maybe they tried to slide back, but the Giants at 9 were reportedly very interested in Scherff.....

i simply look at it as the Jets got lucky.

Hope so, the redskins GM called him their 1c option when they were on the clock and Scherff being 1a. The Redskins GM built the Seahawks and 49ers (Scot McCloughan). They had Fowler, Scherff, and another play (i.e. 1b) rated ahead of Williams. Not everyone had him as the top prospect in the draft...I assume the shoulders are why they dropped him because im not aware of any other concerns...

Lets hope we're just lucky.

I take it you don't really know hobson, but sure make some definitive statements about who he is.

What is the point of this, other than a personal attack?

The difference is, some posters here can understand that they have neither the experience nor the access to the huge amount of information necessary to truly construct an NFL-quality draft board.

Others are convinced they know more than the guys who do this professionally. They think that watching a youtube highlight film is "breaking down film." They're the ones just waiting for that chance to show that they deserve the big NFL front office job, despite having never played or coached organized football. But they've watched every Jets game since they were a kid!
