From what I have seen from Bowles and his Big Nickel D... Harris will be used for run stopping... Run blitzing/pass blitzing... and rarely a drop into an under zone look.... He will not be in Coverage Man to man ever!!!

That's great news! That's his strength, big guy, rarely misses a tackle if he can get his hands on the ball carrier.

I will wait to see what's next, but I don't like the way this has started. We've committed around 17 million next year to two players on the wrong side of thirty. And now , we may fork over another 15 mil to another soon to be thirty yr old corner. Going forward, I would like to invest in players who we can feel confident will be around in 5 years. I know the competition will be stiffer for younger, premium type players. But that's the direction I'd like to go. I'm going to wait before judging any further, but I hate the start we are off to
I don't wish to come off as condescending or an asshat, but you really need to get up to speed with what the NFL has become.

Many years ago Ron Wolf foretold what would become of the NFL - which is essentially NCAA football at an advanced level.
Veteran players, unless of exceptional talent, would be phased out more quickly and young players coming in would have to get up to speed much more quickly and produce in their 2nd or 3rd season to justify a roster spot.
Teams would be rolling over their rosters in 4 years, with so many new faces at the end of that 4 years the fans would barely be able to recognize their own favorite team if they stopped watching for even a few years.
The man was spot-on, a real Nostradamus who saw the looming impacts of the Freeman McNeil & Reggie White court decisions.

The money changed the way the NFL operates.
There was a time when college football was the big deal and the pro game was a side show.
It's almost like history reversed itself and the college game, (spread, read-option, & ground & pound offenses, dominated by 3rd and 4th year players on the verge of a monster contract but still playing for peanuts), is once again the Big Show.

NE has been to the SB 3 times in the space of 8 years.
Have they bothered with "building for the future" and avoided importing veteran UFAs?
Hell NO!
NE shuffles their deck so often I swear nobody lasts more than a single season or two on a NEP roster anymore, & they've pretty much blown every draft since - well - forever.
Hoodie could care less about drafting young players and raising them long-term.
All he cares about is the best man standing after the cannon smoke in training camp clears - which is quite often a 1 or 2 year rental veteran.
Pete Carroll is much the same - he doesn't shiv a git if it's a draft pick or a veteran, he just wants the best player available NOW.
Let next year worry about winning next year.
THIS is YOUR new NFL - get used to it because it ain't going away.

If you want more playing time ,get better. In the meantime the guy that can best help us win should be on the field. Practice and playing time is so scarce now that you can't throw a guy on the field to learn on the fly.

That's exactly my sentiment as well. Aren't we tired anyway of saying "I like where we are going, and we should be competitive in two years"? I would like us to be very competitive this year. And then the year after with as many moves it takes...We had a glimpse of building a winning culture in Rex's first two years, and then we took steps backward with bad cap moves, bad player moves all the way to the somewhat puzzling passiveness from Idzik last year.
Revis, Marshall, Cro are moves that have to make (almost) every fan very excited, IMO. Sure, the QB is the most important piece, but it's also the toughest to find. Fitz is a decent start as a stop-gap. Now, we have to keep aggressively search for The One.
