I agree. All the more reason I would be inclined to sign one year deals with vets. I'm not as hopeful as you are about the receivers and I feel we need another WR in the mix. We got virtually nothing from Stewart and Hansen last year. We don't really know anything about Leggett except Mac seems high on him. It could be awhile before he's a regular contributor. I think ASJ was crucial for McCown's early season success. Not sure Q can fill that spot. I would not want to throw Teddy or a rookie out there without a safety valve or two.

I'd prefer rolling the cap space over for next season and locking up some talent long term. Stewart and Hansen didn't get much opportunity and Peake got hurt. We need to see what we have in them.
Leggett is a very good reciever, questionable blocker, much like Jenkins was.
Tomlinson didn't get enough opportunity to show what he can do as a Reciever but made the most of his limited chances.
Q was way more productive than Jenkins in that very role. ASJ had very similar production to Jace Amaro who was labeled a bust and ran out of town. Jenkins was a nice story, but didn't produce much. He also fell flat in the second half of the season and seemed to be giving little effort. He is getting way to much credit due to the beat writers pumping him up. There's a reason he didn't receive much attention in free agency.

I've said this before, but my issue with this trade is do the Jets have the same exact grade on 3 QB's? Or do they have an assurance from the Giants that they aren't trading out and they are taking Barkley??

It doesn't have to be the exact same, but they need to have three QBs graded at top starter/top 3 pick quality. If they have three QBs graded at the top of the first round, then this was absolutely worth it. If not, it's a big chance to take at a high cost.

I think it's gonna be Rosen or Allen

The more I think about this the more I think the Jets will get the second quarterback on the board, whomever that might be. The reason I say this is because of the Giants, I don’t think are going to take a chance on losing Barkley. Maybe that would have been the case anyway. Any team that wants to trade up in their spot to get a QB is going to be pretty far back like the Bills, Denver or Arizona. The Giants will not get Barkley if they switch to their spots. Knowing that the Browns will pick him up at number four if they don’t get him at number two. So I believe the Giants will take Barkley and we will have a choice of the other three QBs. Whomever the Browns take first. If this is the case then this was definitely a great trade for the Jets and this might have been their thinking the entire time. I know I’m probably giving to Jets too much credit here but they probably already have a very good idea as well on which QB the Browns will draft. My overall thought process here is they might be thinking that this trade now forces the Browns to now draft a QB at one, if they didn't already know that the Browns were going to do that regardless of this trade. If this is the case then that puts the Giants in a position to have to draft Barkley to not lose him at number four. If this their thought process and it all works out then its genius. They just then have to draft the right one and still develop him to be a HOFer and SB winner. Easier said then done.

Why do I have this feeling that the team currently at #2 will screw the Jets by trading their pick to Buffalo? They try to steal the headlines from the Jets every chance they get.

You are correct. Even when the Jets were going to suck and tank the season and the Giants were heading to the playoffs. they would have none of it.
If the Jets are going to suck then the Giants are going to suck worse, and earn a better draft pick than them. Even with our two time superbowl MVP winning QB.That's one thing the Jets have never done, earn the second overall pick with a hall of fame QB playing for them.

So which do you think it is? They have3 qb's graded at the top of the draft or its a big chance to take at a high cost?

Honestly, I don't follow college football, so most of what I know about these guys is from what I read here and hear on wfan. What I have read here for the past year is that each of these guys has flaws and that none of them is a sure thing and no one here can agree on which one to pick. Funny thing is that most everyone here still wants to draft one of these guys because they are all starving for a franchise qb. my opinion based on what I've read here would be that it's a big risk.

This is what I can say. Pretty sure the last qb who was a sure thing coming out of college was Andrew Luck. The Colts, sort of like they did to Peyton Manning, have not yet given him much to work with. The best Luck can do with a not so great team is get to the playoffs and get his as kicked by belichick.... And then because of his, not so great oline, he got busted up and say out a season.

From what I've read here none of these guys is Andrew Luck. I wonder if our supporting cast is better then Lucks. I Hope The Big Risk Works Out.

I Guess Maybe Mac Is Remembering The Movie Risky Business, and said " Sometimes you just gotta say wtf"

The big question is, how long will Eli play? He's 37, not sure if he'll be 38 when the season starts. Let's say he's going to play 2 more seasons, then you have decide if you want to draft players that give him a chance to win another superbowl or draft his replacement. Which asks the next question, do they believe that they already have his replacement? Or, another question, do they think any of these guys is a sure thing and worth the 2 pick.

Maybe Eli plays longer... So Many questions.... Ok I'm rambling And I can't remember if I even had a point... I guess my point was that you just can't know what anyone is thinking

This is never happening, but what if the Jets took Chubb. The Jets are a pass rusher away from having a great to elite defense. Only reason it popped into my head is because they knew they could get him at #3. They knew the Colts wanted him. They knew everyone thought they were taking a QB. And when you think about it the only players you should trade into top 5 for are QB’s and pass rushers. Won’t happen, but our defense would be top 5 with a guy like Chubb.

One thing for sure this is going to be a long month ahead of us. We're gonna run out of draft scenarios and things to say. Ugh!

I am not a fan of Mayfield because of his immaturity. I also worry about his height a bit. The kid can play, but he would not be my first choice. He would have to win me over if he's the pick. If the decision is between Allen and Rosen, I'm fine with either player. Both have great upside. Mayfield is either going to be the next Drew Brees or the next Manziel. It's pretty much that simple. He's not Russell Wilson, he doesn't have his quickness. If he turns into Brees, and becomes that kind of a leader and person in the community, then, that's a home run. If he turns into Manziel with off the field issues, and late night partying nonsense, he is going to get blasted by the media and Jet fans like me. The kid needs to grow up and in a hurry if he is our pick, because he will hear it on gameday if he sucks and he's this immature partier.

Most folks/experts/insiders are projecting Darnold, Allen and Rosen as the top three anyway with the Jets taking who's ever left of the three. I am a Mayfield fan but fear the same that some do. I think he will be followed relentlessly by the bloodsucking media in NY until he proves he can stay out of trouble. I wouldn't be sure he can. He is a big time risk reward pick.

#1 Josh Rosen- Best QB out there.

#2 Josh Allen- Overlooked: His WR dropped a lot of passes this past year.

#3 Sam Darnold- Sounds too good to be true.

#4 Baker Mayfield- Needs a step ;ladder to see over the line.

Lets place the height perspective in order on Baker Mayfield: He's 6'-1"

Aaron Rodgers: 6' 2"

Dak Prescott 6'-2"

Andy Dalton 6'-2"

Russell Wilson: 5' 11"
Drew Brees: 6.-0"

He wont need a ladder. lol.
