Back when Wake-Forest held the regional combines, I went to watch Kevin Johnson CB; however, the kid that stood out to me and all the Scouts there was QB Phillip Sims 6'1"/225 from Winston-State Univ., a small black College.
Besides the fact that he was throwing 50-60 yard darts all day long, is that his former HC @ Alabama Nick Saban has written all 32 NFL teams extolling all of Sims "good qualities". Sims the only Parade All-American to ever play @ WSSU, helped the Rams finish 9-2 last season.
Before coming to WSSU, Sims was a highly-touted recruit @ Alabama where he stayed for two seasons backing up AJ McCarron and winning the National Championship. In High School (Chesapeake, VA), he threw for 10,000 yards.
Sims then transferred to UVA to be closer to his sick father, before becoming academically ineligible and then going to WSSU. Despite leaving for Virginia, Coach Saban never lost touch. In fact, he begged Sims to come back for multiple reasons (great kid, leader, very athletic, HUGE arm, and he does things the right way).
CBS sports has Sims ranked as the 45th best QB in its draft rankings.
Note: We do have two 7th round picks, is Sims worth a flier ?
Go Jets...Cyborg
I think he sounds MORE than worthy of a look, but I guess that makes 44 other QBs even more worthy?
EDIT:
Did you actually see the kid, or is this from an article you read?
