you're right..I'm curious to see if there will be an "Osweiler Effect" on contracts for guys like Glennon. Lets face it, his body of work is pretty slim, and any GM willing to cough up $17-20 M a year is taking a huge risk.
Nfl teams are desperate to find a qb. They over pay for a glimmer of potential.you're right..
but all it takes is one GM that either thinks he needs a QB to keep his job.. or a GM that's in good standings with his organization & is willing to overpay to get his QB..
No qb in this draft is worth trading up for,in my opinion. This would be typical JETs, grab the guy who has been available for 2 years no one else seems interested in at the asking price. Let's way overpay him too. No thanks. I am fine with Petty and Hack as we are in rebuild now. If, after a year or two (unless they are god awful next year) they both flop then we get another guy.
If they s*ck then I would rather give whatever it takes to move up next year and draft the franchise guy. So far, I really like Jake Browning and he will come pro set ready.
Even osweilers deal which seems expensive, is really just a2 year guaranteed deal. This would be typical JETs, grab the guy who has been available for 2 years no one else seems interested in at the asking price. Let's way overpay him too. No thanks. I am fine with Petty and Hack as we are in rebuild now. If, after a year or two (unless they are god awful next year) they both flop then we get another guy.

like i said last night.. if maccagnan pulls the trigger on glennon & guesses wrong, he will have gotten fired..Nfl teams are desperate to find a qb. They over pay for a glimmer of potential.

Yea,but that's the nfl.like i said last night.. if maccagnan pulls the trigger on glennon & guesses wrong, he will have gotten fired..

fair enough..Yea,but that's the nfl.
It seems like mac has an honest working relationship with Woody. If mac correctly scouts Glennon and Woody signs off, I'm not sure that would necessarily be the case.
Either way, petty and hack aren't ready to start. They will get themselves or someone else injured, and they have to learn a new system. We need a starter on the roster, and Glennon is the best mix of track record, pedigree, experience, health, potential.

Story in Houston is that Obrien was completely against signing osweiler, gm wanted him. Now that owner sees a gm bring in a qb guru head coach, then sign a big deal to a qb that guru didn't want.fair enough..
for me, if petty & hackenberg don't show real growth in '17, that would be bad enough.. but signing/outbidding for glennon & finding out he can't play??
at some point johnson will decide maccagnan has drafted or signed enough QBs without the desired results..
No qb in this draft is worth trading up for,in my opinion.

I would give him a Bradford type deal.

it's all the more frustrating to me we have no idea what we have with hackenberg yet..
but yes, i think i'd be willing to part with a 1st & a mid rounder..
on a side note, if we do trade for glennon & he flops, maccagnan will be told to hit the bricks..
He's a free agenti don't get the love for glennon. he's a JAG. trading a 1st and a mid rounder for him will lead to mediocre results and no future 1st and mid round pick.
He started 2 years for a terrible Tampa offense and paired respectably well. He's healthy, has certainly gained knowledge, and might be the best option for a team worth no qb.i don't get the love for glennon. he's a JAG. trading a 1st and a mid rounder for him will lead to mediocre results and no future 1st and mid round pick.
He's a free agent
