Bowles is a creative blitzer & he said today Geno has seen the whole blitz package in about a week & a half. It is May 27th.

Straightforward. Geno heads to camp as the starter. If he plays well, it's his job. If he doesn't, opportunity for QBs. Performance based.

Eric Allen @eallenjets · 3h3 hours ago

Bowles on QB: "I view it as open competition.Geno will be the starter. It's his to lose' Other QBs will have to take it away.

Eric Allen @eallenjets · 3h3 hours ago

Bowles on QB Position: 'Come camp time, there will be competition at the spot. I've said it from Day 1.'

Even if he stinks, it will be the coaching staff's fault, and we will have to give him three years, because he could develop. This happened a few times in the past so we have to give him this time. Besides, he has physical tools, so I really don't see why we would look at his on field performance to evaluate him as a player.

you can't blame last years coaching staff ineptitude on this regime............I have a feeling mac and bowles are ten times smarter than rex.tanny, idzick combined

Me too, I actually love what I've seen from them so far. I'm just being snarky lol. I believe Mac has done his part improving the team talent wise. Now we'll see if Bowles can do his, creating schemes that put our players in the best positions to utilize their skills and allow them to succeed, and this is true for Geno and for everyone else. I don't know much about him from Arizona, but I really like what I've seen from Bowles so far.

I listened to today's Press Conference. My impression of Bowles is that he is smart, savvy, and a no nonsense coach. He's a straight shooter and pragmatic. And I get the impression he is all about winning. I liked Rex and enjoyed having him as a the coach because he gave the Jets an identity. But, I have to say Bowles has an approach and way about him that this team desperately needs. I've been impressed with Mac too. He's done an outstanding job of rebuilding this roster in one year after years of poor drafts and bad decisions in the front office.

I don't want to jump to conclusions about the direction of this franchise, but based on what they've done so far, and how they carry themselves, I really like what I see so far as well.

Its like men are finally coaching the organization...not some loud mouths excited to be in the paper...

Leonard's One of a Kind
As Todd Bowles said today about first-round pick Leonard Williams, "He doesn't carry himself like a young 20-year-old. ... I'd say he's got age beyond his years."
The rookie defensive tackle might also have drawing power beyond his position. He's been invited to the NFLPA's annual Rookie Premiere, which starts Thursday in Los Angeles and connects the union's business partners such as Nike, EA Sports, Samsung and Tostitos with the league's "next wave of marketing stars."
All 41 rookie invitees to the Premiere are offensive skill position players. All, that is, but one — Williams.

Rex is a football man, likely knows the game better than Bowles, but there's a lot of immaturity, dumb loyalty, and bravado that goes with Rex that makes him like high school varsity senior...like Ogre from Nerds!

I don't know about that. Bowles played the game for eight years and learned under some of the brightest minds in the sport(Parcells, Gibbs). Outside of defensive acumen, I'm having a hard time seeing what Rex has going for him.

Has Bowles had the success Rex has? Remember Bowles for the Eagles? That never has or will happen to Rex. He's better than that.

Not entirely true. Bowles was the secondary coach who took over for Castillo when he was fired during the season. He had to try to clean up that mess.

The Philadelphia Eagles hired Bowles as the team's secondary coach on January 30, 2012. The Eagles announced on October 16, 2012 that they dismissed defensive coordinator Juan Castillo from his duties and named Todd Bowles as their new defensive coordinator. Under Bowles, the Eagles finished the season ninth in pass defense and twenty-third in rushing defense.[SUP][3][/SUP]

I would argue Rex has zero secondary last year. Essentially went into every game with no one on the roster than could cover anyone...and was still infinitely better than what Bowles did with that Eagles d.

I still think Rex farts better defensive philosophies than Bowles best defensive game plans.
Bowles had Peterson and Cro last year and Rex had Allen and Undrafted free agents off the street...what was each team's pass defense ranked? About the same, right?

Rex with those cbs...come on, man.
