MAC is killing this draft

Best draft and off-season I can remember. The team is so talented if we had one of those top QB's we would be a favorite to win the SB..so talented there is no way the QB position could screw things up.

I think SNY has a draft special on at 730 ET I don't get it here. I would appreciate anyone watching post some of what the boys have to say. Thanks in advance.
Ray Lucas is unprepared and uninformed as usual, saying he didn't like the Stacy trade because he wanted the Jets to draft a younger back, which makes zero sense when you consider Stacy is 24 Year Old.

How much younger does he want, a RB from Pee Wee football?

Thanks for the update Ham
It makes you not even want to watch the show when one of the panelists make that argument. Its so unprepared and uninformed that its amateur hour. If you can't do the minimum amount of homework, you shouldn't be on the show.

That SNY panel might as well add Joe Benigno, Manish Mehta and Joe Namath to the consistently negative viewpoints of Custer, Lucas and Westhoff

Best draft I remember since the four first-rounder 2000 draft, and the best offseason I think I ever remember.

Totally agree. I'm not one to buy in to hyperbole but this new GM rocks! I think Smith is going to be a great pickup. I realize it's a risk/ reward pick, but the Jets needed speed and they got it with this kid. And they don't have to rush him in (i.e. Stephen Hill).
And how can you not root for Mauldin? I'd rather have this kind of player who will give everything he has rather than a guy with better measurables but not as strong character. Obviously Williams is a stud.
Plus the Jets signed 10 FA to show me deals. If only half pan out- the roster immediately improves immensely. Ridley is going to be huge.

The move to trade back was genius. If you compare this roster with last year's it's not even close.

Now obviously it's how it translates on the field that counts, but if you're an objective Jet fan you have to be excited to see this new improved roster.

+1

At a MINIMUM, this team has raised its base level of talent needed to make the roster.

Instead of focusing on our few studs and conveniently not looking lower down the depth chart, it's now going to be enjoyable looking down there and watching the strongest survive!

This offseason has the feel of the Parcells year. It feels like a game changer.

Now, back then, the Jets were coming off several straight dismal seasons, including the two disastrous Kotite years. This time, the team is not that far off, and went to consecutive conference title games just a few years ago.

I agree. But this has to translate on the field. The W column is all that matters.

I know we keep holding to that, but there really aren't many players left from those teams.

These guys just have to start their own era of quality Jet FB . . .

I agree 100%. He is constantly interrupting everyone else like he is smarter than them. When he does it to Westhoff it makes me want to punch the television

Im so used to getting busted by my friends because the jets are always the Kings of the off-season, but damn it is so hard to contain myself. I feel that this year we really have been the Kings of the off-season. And when that translates to the improvements we are all now expecting here, good times!!!

That's a PERFECT illustration! Some people perform beyond their natural abilities when they face certain situations. Young men in the battlefields find great courage when their comrades are in danger, fathers protecting their children or people like Mauldin who are so determined to create a better life for themselves.

someone said the kid plays faster than his numbers indicate and that seems to be the case i see also looking at him on film.

it's like when they say seabiscuit is not a fast horse riding the track by himself, but if you give him competition he can give you a extra gear.

I think the kid is like that give him some competition and you see a faster mauldin than at the combines. The adversity he has faced in his life he has risen up and defeated is the same ones he needs on the football field.

He says he wants to be the best and i believe him.

The Sea Biscuit reference really is spot on, heart and drive are such underrated qualities.

I have paid close attention to MMacc during his 3 post draft pressers, and have come away extremely impressed. He comes off as extremely calm, calculating, well prepared, and you can tell he loves scouting and player evaluation. He also has his finger on the pulse of this team in that all of the moves so far in both FA and the draft have been perfectly suited to fill present and future needs. There are a lot of things to love about this draft, like getting a stud at top which was shear good fortune or the complimentary vertical threat at WR, but to me getting a potential future starting QB in 4th is just great roster management and value grabbing. I was always an Idzik apologist and supporter, but now seeing how a real GM works I am thrilled with the future of this franchise. I just hope that Bowles is as much of a homerun as MMacc.

Nice Avitar! I was a big Grote fan. He called an excellent game behind the plate.
