Interesting who did a good part of the damage in this 12-1 thumping by the FIRST PLACE METS OF NY TOWN.....

Conforto
Cespedes
Johnson

Peeps who weren't here three weeks ago

Don't want to get too far ahead of myself BUT if Bart can put together a run of starts like this, we could run away with this division

The only thing that worries me during this pennant chase is experience. Mets young pitching staff plus Flores and Tejada have never experienced this type of pressure. Getting Uribe, Cespedes and Johnson is big in having experience. Hopefully, Colon and Clippard can keep the pitchers loose.

Unless 99 MPH heat > Experience. :smiley-dance006:

I was about to say something like -- we are only a game up, just took over first place yesterday. But, then I am the guy who posted about the magic number.

You want to say we are going to run away with the Division, go for it.

The young guns didn't seem to have a problem with the 3 game set against Washington, so I think they will be fine. No matter how the season plays out, it will only help in the long run to have these guys play in big spots in August and September.

Why not us?

Take a good look at the remaining schedule. The Mets sked is at least 4 games easier than the Nats who still have to face St Louis, LA and SF

Yeah, playing at home in front of 35k adrenaline pumping fans helps... going to St. Louis, Pitt, LA or or SF might be different come October. We play 3 @ Nats in early Sept. Will be fun to see how the young guys fare.

I agree with you. The division is right there for the taking. Until Sandy made the deadline moves, I assumed we were still a year away. Now, I have to think we are the favorites and the team nobody wants to play in the postseason.

That why this season will be so huge for this team. All the young guys, position players and pitchers, will learn what a pennant race feels like, going out there every day with something on the line. Should be a great experience for the guys and a fun ride for us as fans.

Would be nice if they can lock him up and keep him from going to FA. Longshot, but I guess its possible:

Now we are winning games on late rallies with big hits from Juan Lagares and Eric Campbell?

Yup. And not only has the offense improved since the July trades, but no that we are not playing guys out of position, the defense has beenmuch better. Pretty sure last night was the 6th straight errorless game.

Timely hitting and good defense to back up great starting pitching.

Pinch me.

Oh, man!!!

Getting a bit nervous over the last 20 minutes, but still, a win is a win. Dbacks up 8-2 in Washington in the 8th, hopefully their is no bullpen implosion in that game too.

First place, still.
First road sweep of the season.
First time this season with 5 or more runs in 4 straight games.
30 runs scored in the 4 games is most over a 4 game stretch this season.

DeGrom and Thor the next 2 nights in TB. The Nats have Zimmerman going vs. Az. then the Rockies at home.

Have to keep the pedal to the floor... no let-ups!
Murphy, Grandy and Cespedes really locked in right now.

Fun stuff!

DeGrom pitching near his home tonight. Should have many friends and family in the ballpark. Hope he isn't overly excited and struggles with command.
