5.5 up

and 6-1 on the current 9 game cross country road trip including the brand new phenomenon called "winning with offense"

The way the starting pitching has been on this road trip, we probably would have been 2-5 on a trip like this during the first half of the season. Offense has been carrying us, but don't forget the bullpen. Familia has been lights out again, Robles is emerging as a 7th inning guy. Clippard still scares me, seems to work in and out of trouble every outing. But two great nights our of the pen in Philly and a lot of solid work in Colorado.

Hoping we can get some innings out of Colon tonight - relievers need some rest. I doubt Robles can go tonight, I think he has pitched in 3 straight.

Agree completely. In some way I'd prefer Clippard in 7th, Robles 8th. Clippard was pissed TC took him out last night. Good decision IMO... they were hitting ball hard off Clippard.

Need the "O" to give Colon a big cushion so he can go the distance tonight.

The good part is that this year's postseason and next year's regular season won't include Colon

Postseason

Harvey Hair Thor Matz

2016

Harvey Hair Thor Matz Niese

Unless somebody gets traded in the offseason in which case Verrett and Gee compete for the 5 spot/ spot starter long guy roles

Assuming we get there, I am not sure we even have Colon on the postseason roster.

I don't see him as a guy who can contribute out of the pen and the way he has pitched over the last 2 months, I certainly don't want him starting. Curious to see what they do with Eric Young - wonder if they bring him up & put him on the roster to bring some speed off the bench. Maybe he takes Colon's roster spot for the playoffs.

I have no problem with Colon's exit from the PO roster... heck, even for Sept. I'g give the green light to Verrett or Matz taking his spot in the rotation. We have enough seasoned vets on the roster now to settle these young guys down.

So quick question for you guys. What has been the turnaround for this team this season? It's like something went off and boom, big run. Was it the trades at the deadline?

That certainly was a large factor, E. Also, a guy like Wilmer was shocked into hitting like he can and Grandyman's bat woke up at the same time

I heard a commentary yesterday that said the turning point was that game in which their 4,5,6 hitters in the lineup were Mayberry Jr, Campbell (both batting 160 or so) and Duda who was also in a long slump. Apparently after that one, there were meetings in which Sandy was given the green light and $$ to make the moves he made at the end of July.

Plus, it helps to have those starting pitchers as your foundation for winning

Looking forward to being there in 411 Friday night at Citifield.

Tee shirts, Harvey, the Blow Sux, first place and good weather. Should be at or close to a full house.

Yup -- gotta be the deadline deals. With great starting pitching and a legit major league lineup, this is a really good team. No longer starting 3 minor leaguers every night.

Either that or Wilmer Flores tears was a catalyst -- team is something like 17-7 since the near trade.

Pin$triper$ getting shut out 5 0, top sixth.

Shutting them out for Houston is former Met farmhand Collin McHugh.

Well

So much for my worries about Bartolo

Just completed SEVEN innings of 5 hit shutout baseball striking out eight including the side in the seventh

100+ pitches

and got the Mets with a 4-0 lead to Clippard and Familia time. Both well rested too

Update: Cuddyer with a huge two run Upper Deck blast to stretch the lead to 6-0. Still batting in the 8th
