This is a 5-5 football team. That's it.
Over the course of a 16-game season, unless you are really good or really bad, you are going to have stretches where you play above your level and stretches where you play below it. It all evens out, generally, in your final record. The Jets started on an upswing, and are now in a downswing.
After the first five games, did anyone think they were really an .800 (13-3 or so) team?
And after these past five games, does anyone think they are really a .200 (3-13 or so) team?
If not, then it all evens out. Sports radio and message boards are perfect venues for the fans who overreact to every micro-event. Every win, and they are headed to the Super Bowl. Every loss, and fire the entire staff and bench everyone. Just listen to guys like Joe Beningo. He has no context, no ability to see the big picture.
