The thing that really stood out to me on the negative side was the run defense. Carlos Hyde is a very good player, but that was stupid. He ripped off about 5-6 huge runs with nobody near him. Gilchrist had to catch up with him numerous times. I'll give Mainejet some credit here: Darron Lee admitted he stunk in that first half. He said it was bad angles and just inexcusable. He shouldered all of the blame for it. At least Lee played better in the 2nd half, and didn't dodge the blame.

Where was Wilkerson? Richardson? The rest of the defense? That was alarming.

Both Bowles and Quinn were considered great hires by just about everyone. Fans included.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Of course. I haven't made up my mind yet about either T.B. or Mac. However, we should keep in mind that Bill Parcells was 3-12-1 in his first year with the Giants and that Belichik was a dud in Cleveland. Sometimes a coach can simply improve with experience, just as we all hope Petty can. I'm not advocating Bowles' return; there obviously are areas of concern. He will never be the fiery guy that most fans prefer. among other issues. Regardless of what happens with Bowles, I was and am dead set agains Woody's process, even though he hired Casserly and Wolf as consultants. There is no hierarchy. Both T.B. and Mac report to Woody, who knows nothing about football.

I pretty much agree with everything here, though I have a bit more confidence in Mac's long-term plan than I do Bowles'.
