Signed Revis, Cro. & Skrine, plus we have Milliner and McDougle both coming back from injury..and a Marcus Williams who started to play better as the year went on. I'd rather take a flyer on a free agent cb or another teams cap casualty then draft one with our picks this year.

nah to high they can wait till the later rounds and get a corner like kevin johnson who is not a stud but certainly serviceable

Whoa there partner, that's my Wake-Forest boy you are talking about ! LOL. Seriously, the word down here, is that the Steelers are infatuated with Kevin Johnson with the 22nd pick ? Doubt he makes it to the 2nd round because this kid has no bad history of failed drug test or getting kicked off the team, that should help him leap frog Peters & Collins.

Finally! Some sanity being rumored about the Jets' draft team. Now, if only a similar rumor would surface about them passing on Winston at 6...

Wait, wait, wait..

Colleges send prostitutes to Friday night football games
Pay players
pay their families
Give all their players free shoes, clothes, etc
Most of the players i went to PSU with had cars from friends of the university (when they come back to their dorms there is almost always a care package with shoes, clothes, ipad, new cell phone, etc at their door)
They will put your family in housing

Everything I just said is a NCAA violation...every university is doing what I describe above...all the good ones...why would they start screening for drugs? It would be just another NCAA requirement they ignore...

Staying in the football players dorm which was mandatory my freshman year, pot smoke was so think in the hallway's of the dorm, it constantly looked like a Cheech & Chong movie ! Kevin is right, special athlete's in College, especially football & basketball players, are treated differently than the rest of the students on campus. Generally, football players are the wildest bunch on campus !

How can you count on those two. McDougle was injury prone in college and Milliner had a severe leg injury. Right now they cannot be counted on. How can you predict that they will be just as good as they were before. They may, but they may not. I would like to have some quality just in case they can't comeback.

I will likely pencil him to us at 37 when I do mine. I'm not excited about making our pick because I think it's pointless. I will also have us take White for the sake of the game, but my head says we are trading down so it's all moot.

i just re-did my mock draft, but didn't change ray to the jets. i kept him in the 1st, albeit very late in the round...

While I think its possible this is true, its just as likely that the Jets are throwing up a smoke-screen.

So what would be the point of leaking no interest in Mariota, not even if he falls to 6?

For one thing it tells the teams ahead of us that we are not trading up for Mariota and we are not panicking if you start entertaining offers from other teams, we don't give a damn, do what you must, but we are standing pat at 6 and we wouldn't even take Mariota if he fell to us.

It also tells the teams behind us that they don't need to pay a kings ransom to leap us for Mariota, we're not the team they need to worry about, if he gets to us he'll just go right on sliding.

Now I don't know who is going to bye it, or if its even true, but you have nothing to lose by leaking it.

leaking this could mean that the jets indeed have no interest in mariota. it also could mean the jets are actively looking to trade up to #2 to get mariota. or anything in between...

in other words, it means absolutely nothing

jets arent even counting on either of them to make the roster...which is why I expect them to draft a #4 CB.

I wouldn't pass on Mariota at #6 . I wouldn't trade up for him, but if he made it to that pick, I wouldn't pass up unless I could trade down, get another pick, and take another QB in the 2nd or 3rd.

Probably not. But as a Jet fan, I am hopelessly optimistic. So I'll continue to hope the Jets' draft team, and the drafters who pick before them, are finally coming to their senses about using a high draft pick on a Heisman QB. But I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets disappoint me. It happens a lot.

EXACTLY..MACC and BOWLES don't seem like the type to tell anyone anything....UNLESS like someone alluded to..they want that info out there....

if mariota's ends up being an NFL bust i don't believe for a moment it will have anything to do with winning an award in college..

i respect your opinion RI but i just don't follow your logic on the topic..

Everyone is playing chess right now. Everyone that is smart anyway and Mac and Bowles are no different. Mariota is probably at the top of their draft board for all we know and they may be willing to give up 3-4 high draft picks for him. I truly hope that is not the case but it could be. Then again, this could be the truth just to see who will bite on this info to help them draft Mariota so the Jets know who really wants him. Mac and Bowles seem to have this team going in all the right directions, so they will play the chess game and see who bites to work in their favor.

To me, Mariota winning the Heisman is irrelevant. I don't think it works in his favor, and I don't think it works against him.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2015/story/_/id/12780052/shane-ray-phase-1-nfl-substance-abuse-program

Missouri defensive end/outside linebacker Shane Ray, a top draft prospect who was cited Monday for marijuana possession, is now automatically enrolled in the behavioral portion of Phase 1 of the NFL's substance abuse program, sources tell ESPN's Mark Dominik.

The move, which is determined by doctors independent of the NFL or the NFL Players Association, means Ray will not face any league discipline but is subject to random drug testing. The portion of the program he is enrolled in is designed to modify his behavior as it relates to substance abuse. That is a result of Ray's being charged not for using marijuana but for possession of the substance.

Ray, who was projected as a top-10 pick, was charged after a traffic stop early Monday near Columbia, Missouri. This issue, combined with a turf toe injury he suffered in the Citrus Bowl, has fueled speculation that Ray could drop as low as the third round of this week's draft.

Last week, Ray told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that he has seen a doctor and does not need surgery on his toe, but that given time, the toe can be rehabbed. But Mortensen reports that some teams' medical staffs still believe Ray might need surgery.

The NFL Network, using pre-draft information obtained by five teams, is reporting that Ray tested positive for marijuana use during his early playing days at Missouri.

Doctors who assess whether a player is put into the NFL's drug program are allowed to go back and look at testing for two college seasons. It is unclear whether that occurred in Ray's case or when he might have tested positive at Missouri.

Ray, on Monday night, apologized for the citation, saying he will "make better decisions" in the future.

If the assumptions about Bowles preferring larger lb's like one of his mentors(Parcells) is true, I don't think Ray was ever a consideration for this scheme.
