This is why I want to move down from 4 and pick up another 2nd rounder . That2nd round even though we haven’t had great luck there is pivotal in this draft .

move down from 4 pick up a shiny new 2nd and 3rd but fall into the 20s then selecting a player like Dean or Lloyd... but could then take a wide receiver or tight end in the 20s...

there are too many options, yet to be had I hate to say this but injuries yet to happen to shake the draft projections...

another surprise or two will vault into first round consideration while others will have some thing bad happen...

then you also have what are we going to do in free agency will affect the draft...

of course to this point there are 19 schools of prospects completed with prospect scouting reports to read if you like
on the school page top 16 are all but done maybe 97%...
the bottom half completed Arizona State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers

why I am saying this there are some prospects that might match a day 3 consideration for Saleh's defense all three schools

I'd actually love to see Hamsah Nasirildeen get a shot as our SS.

As an FSU fan I can honestly say that in college? He was more of a tackling machine @ FSU than Jamal Adams was a tackling machine @ LSU and Hamsah Nasirildeen also has better hands than Jamal Adams.

Hamsah was a guaranteed 1st round pick (as was Bryce Hall) before his injury. I really hope to see him get a chance to play SS next year because I never liked him at LB this year.

As would I . I think with him at SS and Pinnock at FS we would have two solid enforcers patrolling back there both with the ability to come down in the box or play coverage . Ah well

I don't know too much about Pinnock but I know with Hamsah Nasirildeen he needs room and space to ROAM because when he's able to roam? He's always around the ball. His tackling numbers for two years @ FSU were unreal.

Pinnock is a slow CB who has decent man coverage skills and loves to hit . His move to safety late in the year was a stroke of absolute genius .

I'd like to go back to how I started this thread and the reason I'm not keen on using the early picks on DBs.

The current DBs aren't the problem, the lack of a sustainable pass rush is.
The greatest DBs in the world can't cover a receiver forever. Eventually, they will break free.
So the best way to prevent this happening is to put the QB on his arse before that happens. You have a QB in a prone position and the need for better DBs goes away.

The key to a winning football team is keeping your QB's uniform clean and the other team QBs uniform dirty.

For as bad as I want Evan Neal and Tyler Linderbaum in order to help Zach Wilson?

I wouldn't be upset if we walked out of the 1st round with one of either Hutchinson/Kayvon as a pass rusher @ #4 overall and then one of either Hamilton/Stingley Jr for our Secondary @ pick #10.

At the end of the day I know Zach Wilson needs a lot of help on Offense but coach Saleh also needs a dominant Defense to reach his Max potential as H.C too. That's his identity.

But then 2nd round we better go WR and OT and then look for TE 3rd round.

This is what's intriguing about this up coming draft. None of us have a CLUE what JD is going to do. Once FA is complete we'll all have a much better idea of what's to come.

Funny but I love Thibbs but I don’t want either of those two potential bust . I gotta say tha if we didn’t have Moore I would be all over Dotson like stink on a skunk . I want a compliment, not a clone and right about now with Williams getting hurt on last night I’m on the Burks Justyn Ross bandwagon. That Ross dude is a bad son of a who’s your momma

And I think I know why we're mostly all scared of Hutchinson/Kayvon.

It's called Vernon Gholston syndrome.

And with Stingley Jr. it could be Dee Milliner syndrome.

Those two busts have really hurt us Jets fans both mentally and emotionally

But what if Hutchinson becomes the next Watt/Bosa brothers and Kayvon becomes J-Abe and Stingley Jr. becomes the closest thing since Revis? We'll all kill JD for passing on them 2-3 years from today.

Probably, but not if we get a good top notch OG, TE and Edge . Remember Gastineau was a second round pick and Klecko was what a mid rounder . We just need to get players that fit what we do and the rest will take care of itself barring injury .
Here’s a nugget for @TebowCan'tThrow . With what we’re building now, the OT on the Bucs from Iowa would have been a better choice than Becton . Trouble is Adam Gase was the HC and that son of a thought football was being played today like when he was a kid .

I actually don't think Wirfs would look anything like he would in NY as he does in Tampa Bay.

And for many of reasons too.

If drafted into NY he would've been asked to play Franchise LT. Not a much easier RT position.

Also in NY he wouldn't have been blessed with an opportunity to become hidden (and not exposed) within an offense featuring the likes of Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski and even Antonio Brown but more importantly; a 7x SB winning QB in Tom Brady; who's the very best at calling out Defenses and getting the ball out quicker than any QB ever (not named Dan Marino).

Had TB drafted Mekhi Becton and moved him to RT? He may never have gotten injured and would probably look even more dominat than Wirfs.

Which is why I hate PFF scores. They grade the player but not their surrounding crap situations? It's an awful Rating system to judge a Football player off of.

I live here in Tampa Bay. Saint Petersburg. All of my Buccaneers friends rave about Tom Brady, Tom Brady, their Defense and then more Tom Brady. They never rave about their RT who's yet to be exposed because of Tom Brady.

Let's wait until 2023 and beyond. When Brady is retired and Wirfs will be left to defend himself for a QB like Trask. Then and only then can we fairly judge Becton vs. Wirfs (when on the field).

Wirfs is an awesome RT for TB.
Just not sold on him if drafted as a Jet.

Let me explain my thought process. Benton is an at the LOS blow you up OT who can move . Wirfs is a motion, pulling style OT who can anchor.
If you’re looking for an OT who’s going to be dominant at the LOS in both the run and passing game Becton is your man . If you’re looking for the OT who can pull, in the running game and pass protect against the smaller edge rusher then Wirfs is your man .
Right now, I think Wirfs fits what we do better than Becton does but that’s not to say Becton is a bad fit .

And who's your 3rd/4th round O-Linemen sleeper?

well fit wise Ikem Ekwonu makes the most sense just because of his pulling ability and ferociousness as drive blocker in open space...
second is like Ekwonu but from the Pac 12 Washington Husky Jaxson Kirkland also a LT that should convert to Guard...
the third is actually a guard from Boston College Zion Johnson both Kirkland and Johnson are top 2nd round prospects both could start...

3rd/4th round prospect there are five
1. Guard/Center/Tackle Hybrid Cade Mays, Tennessee
2. Guard/Center Nick Ford Utah
3. Guard/Tackle Wanya Morris Oklahoma
4. Tackle/Guard Tyler Vrabel Boston College
5. Tackle/Guard/Center Luke Wattenberg Washington

there is a 7th round - Priority Free Agent that fits like a glove at Right Tackle
Darnell Wright Tennessee 5 star recruit to play left tackle but played right tackle up to this past season...

Can you please/please/please create a separate thread for projected 4th/5th round SLEEPERS?

That would probably become my favorite thread of the offseason because with two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks and a 3rd round pick? Those picks should all be Home Runs.

But it's our two 4th round picks and two 5th round picks that really fire me up. Those two rounds is what could potentially turn an A+ draft (after 3 rounds) into potentially one of the greatest Jets drafts of All-Time if we walk away with more Michael Carter/Trey Smith types of sleeper picks.

I have a couple in mind but I'd absolutely love a sleeper pick thread. In order to learn from a lot of you posters + get more familiar with names and players who I currently know nothing about.

It's an important thread for me. Because every year I head into the 4th round and 5th rounds and have no idea about players outside of maybe 2-3 names.

I've been for Ekwonu from the get go. I also like Zion Johnson and Cade Mays if they slip to the 3rd Rd. I doubt that Johnson will.
