The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Kyle Hamilton @ 10th overall (if still available) and yes, even over Tyler Linderbaum.

Turning a non ball hawking SS in Jamal Adams into both Alijah Vera-Tucker @ LG and a true ball hawking FS in Kyle Hamilton? It'll be hard not to grade JDs trade of Jamal Adams as anything less than an A++.

At the end of the day coach Saleh needs DOGS on Defense in order to give his Defense an identity and Kyle Hamilton imo is not only the most impactful Defensive Player coming out but he's the definition of a DOG.

And with Sam Darnold's 2nd round + 4th round picks from Carolina? Use them to protect Zach Wilson with a WR who falls into early round two (as Elijah Moore did) along with another 4th round RB to compliment Michael Carter while giving Zach Wilson a dynamic 1-2 punch @ RB (As Sanchez had in Jones/Greene).

I think the best way to protect a younger QB is to give him a run game behind a monster O-Line and a Defense to keep games close.
Unless Hamilton’s knee injury is problematic, I doubt he will last until 10.

Kyle Hamilton had a "fat pad impingement"

Inflammation of the fat pad in the knee can be a stand-alone condition or can exist with other knee conditions such as patella tendinopathy or patellofemoral (knee cap) pain. The majority of the fat pad sits underneath the knee cap, and can be felt as a ‘spongy/soft’ region. It is also known as Hoffa’s fat pad. It can become inflamed if you bang/knock your knee directly (e.g. falling onto your knee), or can be due to overuse. It is most common in active individuals particularly dancers and those that kneel as part of their job (e.g. a carpenter), but can also be an issue with runners and footballers. An MRI scan is the best way of diagnosing fat pad inflammation.

Physiotherapy is the first line treatment for fat pad inflammation and is likely to involve a period of taping and activity modification if the pain is severe followed by rehabilitation to strengthen weak muscles around the knee. However, it is not uncommon that an ultrasound guided injection is required to settle the inflammation and should certainly be considered if pain is not settling. A steroid injection can provide rapid pain relief and speed up your recovery.

Thanks for that GMF. Don't see anything there as to long term effects, healing other than pain management from steroid and other injections. My question would be is this guy gonna be a cripple after 5 years. Are there any other NFL guys with similar conditions and what can we learn from them.

Some more thoughts. (gmf, if you think this should be broken out into a separate thread, please do)
We are all in agreement that Wilson needs a better supporting cast and there have been various approaches mentioned to doing this.

But if you listen to the announcers on tv games for the past years, at one time or another they have all said the same thing - 'The quarterback's best friend is his tight end".
SO, I began thinking, when was the last time the Jets have had a tight end who can strike fear into the other team; the ability to turn any pass from anywhere on the field into a touchdown? The last ones I remember were Barkum and Caster.

The game has changed, and more of the good teams are using the tight end as a major weapon.
Why should the Jets wait until the later rounds to fill that spot with a player who is just OK?

I'm beginning to think that if the top TE prospect is there at 10, the Jets could do a lot worse than picking him there.

I agree that TE is a must early round selection, but we should be able to get at least one of the top three at the top of Round 2. I'm hoping for McBride at either 35 or 38.

Hoffa's fat pad syndrome also called fat pad impingement, infrapatellar fat pad syndrome, and Hoffa's disease, is a condition characterized by anterior knee pain, pain in the center, and front of your knees, due to inflammation of the Hoffa's fat pad.

And no it is NOT Jimmy Hoffa, for you smart asses out there...

With Surgery:
Severe pain, an antalgic block, and defensive behavior are considered diagnostic of fat pad impingement. In our cohort, Hoffa's test was positive in 86.2% of patients in the partial resection group and 84.6% of patients in the subtotal resection group.

Without Surgery:
“Generally, ice — a lot of ice — will help bring down the swelling that results from the impingement. Rest, over-the-counter anti-inflammatories, and strength-building and stretch exercises are also usually advocated. Sometimes, the area can be taped so that the fat pad is not impinged on.

So honestly this could be a long term issue it will be on the medical check to assess the long term affects and will have to trust their diagnosis...

There's already one Hoffa in MetLife Stadium. (Yes, I'm both smart AND an ass)
No need for another.

I posted some Sleeper Offensive Linemen in the Jets Global Forum
each prospect with their own topic/thread
enjoy the reads

the best one I think if he declares is Tennessee OT Darnell Wright
played a full season as a freshman at RT
split time LT/RT and RG in his sophomore campaign
and this year his Junior year played LT

also have his scouting report through the Tennessee Team page

Trouble was none of the OC were ready to start in 2022 and that’s why I wanted Stromberg . I figured he sits behind McGovern for a year or so and take over when mcGovern’s contract was up .

I'd like to go back to how I started this thread and the reason I'm not keen on using the early picks on DBs.

The current DBs aren't the problem, the lack of a sustainable pass rush is.
The greatest DBs in the world can't cover a receiver forever. Eventually, they will break free.
So the best way to prevent this happening is to put the QB on his arse before that happens. You have a QB in a prone position and the need for better DBs goes away.

The key to a winning football team is keeping your QB's uniform clean and the other team QBs uniform dirty.

Exactly Right. Draft EDGE early. Get Me some guys who can get to the QB on a consistent basis and you will see changes happen.
Once again OL should be the priority right after Edge. GUARD should a priority. Dominate the Line of Scrimmage and you dominate the game.If the guy fits the scheme on either side of the ball does it make a difference what round He is drafted?

Ricky was another fave of mine! I am acquiescing to @gmf1369 's inclination for Cade Mays. 6'6', 325, brawler, nasty.
