Old Wise Tale

Jets looking at Stingley Jr. concerns me. That means they are considering a CB in the first round that will be the 6th 1st round corner they have gone to pro day to watch and work out.

Ahmad Gardner
Derek Stingley Jr.
Trent McDuffie (technically add in Kyler Gordon also here)
Kaiir Elam
Andrew Booth Jr.
Tariq Woolen
Hopefully smoke screen for #10?

I hope so but this makes me worry that they are considering upgrading Bryce Hall. Now could be smoke screen to scout other players but DB coach Manuel is there and he went to those other 5 pro days as well.

Jameson Williams...to draft or not to draft, that is the question?
Great potential out there from college, but....torn ACL in post-season game.
We have more than suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. On the other hand, what the hell?

I like this player also but no . I would be interested in his teammate in the late 2nd though .

if we were to move back for an extra first, then it's a no-brainer...do it.
if he is available, and we haven't gotten a WR yet, i say do it.

1.) Bama product so he is pro-ready.
2.) fantastic route runner.
3.) makes up for not getting Tyreke.
4.) magnificent hands.
5.) great after the catch.

i don't think Zach can over throw him.

Now I am all in for Ekwonu at #4, but what if we took Travon Walker at #4 and Jermaine Johnson at #10. We don't have to worry about Lawson if he is coming back Healthy from his injury and our DL is set.

chances of us all be happy with the draft picks is going to be the question, the real question do we fix the skill position early or go double dip defense? is Becton in jeopardy if the right offer comes along we trade him and target Northern Iowa's Trevor Penning? Heard the Jets brought Ikem Ekwonu in to workout at right tackle and get this center! they like the versatility of the free agents signed gives them flexibility in the draft but to understand taking a CB early basically puts Bryce Hall or Michael Carter II on notice. Safety currently we have 9 under contract and guarantee Jordan Whitehead is one starter.

At EDGE we have JFM, Huff as two options with cherry on top Lawson. Two unknowns with Anae coming in and limited exposure with Dwumfour from last season. Interior Defensive lineman is a huge hole if JFM stays on the outside with Solomon Thomas signing opens the door for Devonte Wyatt, Perrion Winfrey and/or Phidarian Mathis early even Logan Hall is an option round 2.

At linebacker a surprise player in Leo Chenal is liked by the coaching staff. Sterling Weatherford from Miami (OH) still an interest. Damone Clark stock has slipped with him likely out his rookie season. Jesse Luketa inside linebacker at Penn State also played EDGE would be a smart pickup to pair with in rotation linebacker Jacob Martin. CJ Mosley is likely on his last year with the team. Quincy Williams in contract year and will demand a sizeable payday. Two under rookie contracts with no real depth to build on has to be focus this year.

What depth on the offensive line moving forward, a hybrid TE/OT along with a backup OC who lines up as Guard and a swing tackle who is likely out with the signing of Senat. Two new shiny tight ends but three other options that will compete for practice squad. Re-signed the fullback for one year deal. At running back we know Mike Carter & Austin Walter and Tevin Coleman the other two are expendable could be a draft target on day 3 as they had a virtual visit with one they really like in Pierre Strong Jr.

My concern is when you get a jack-of-all-trades player he might not play one position well enough to be very good at it.(a master of none, as the old saying goes)
If a player is very good at one position and just good enough to fill in at another, that is ok.
But I would be cautious in evaluating the top side of each of those positions.

i like where you're going with this. i understand the desire for players to be able to fill in multiple spots, because it makes a 53 man roster a 60 man roster in terms of carrying "x" amount of T's, or "y" amount of Centers.

but a team full of these players doesn't have full tilt boogie LT's, RT's, and C's who can match up to a master craftsman at DE, or DT.

Would you consider this prospect with pick 38?

Perfect fit at center in a wide/outside zone-based blocking scheme.
Instant replacement and starter for Connor McGovern

i heard Jurgens is rather nasty too.

10.) Nasty Penning.
69.) Nasty Jurgens... i haven't seen him mocked earlier than the 3rd.
117.) Nasty Kinard.

that's just a nasty right side!

he is being mocked 36 - 54 so gone well before 69.
would use 38 on him then trade McGovern for a 4th round pick this year
instantly open up $9 M cap space moving on from CM
we have Dan Feeney in house as backup.
