Wake me up when management actually picks someone that can actually HELP the Jets win. You know maybe a starter at least?

We're a base 3-4 team that took an undersized 4-3 OLB in the first round, and I do mean strictly a 4-3 OLB, at 6' 1"/232 he'll get devoured in the 3-4

How does that make sense?

If Bowles refused to switch to a base 4-3 after we drafted L. Williams, when it was a no brainer, why will he do it now?

My sense was Bowles was in the room, and had a say in this. I am thinking he signed off on a guy based on the scheme he wants to run in 2016.

Unfortunately, Lee was #1 on Pro Football Focus' "Buyer Beware" list (See my previous post in separate thread for the link). He seems to me to be strictly a 3rd down pass rusher. Cannot imagine him setting the edge on running plays or stopping the run at the point of attack. This is not just me or Pro Football Focus. Louis Riddick, whose opinion I value the most of the guys on ESPN tonight made the same points. I hope that Bowles can work some wonders next year with Lee.

On a separate note, I can't take Gruden. Every pick is a great pick. Riddick is the only one there providing measured analysis.

one thing you forgot Ham is Bowles loves his hybrid db/lb alla Dion Bailey, Ronald Martin and how they play Calvin Pryor up at the line of scrimmage... Lee has good coverage skills and will be able to lineup in space... but they will have him bulk up some...

Bowles said he wanted to get younger and faster. I assume we did.
This kid runs in the 4.4's, he's freakishly athletic, but if Bowles is not switching to a base 4-3, something he refused to do last year when we drafted Leonard Williams and it was the no brainer, then we drafted a part time player in the first round.

Denver might be taking Lynch here. Fitzpatrick has no leverage.

Fair concern.

I'm not that concerned about scheme, in that I think Bowles signed off on the pick, and that Lee is in his plans.

I'm putting trust that the front office and coaching staff are working well together here, and have made the right move for what they want to do.

That is one thing I had considered, too. I wondered if Lee, rather than a Pryor, would become a potential hybrid on certain downs.

Contrary to popular belief, some systems still utilize the hybrid quite effectively.

Hey, if he says tonight in the press conference that we are switching to a base 4-3, I'll be singing a different tune, in that case it was a terrific pick and terrific value, but if he says what he said last year after we drafted Leonard Williams and we all thought that signaled a switch to the 4-3, which he quickly debunked, then we drafted a part time player at #20 Overall.

Leonard Williams even tho he can play DE or DT in a 3-4 he is capable to be a 4-3 DT/NT... so anything is possible

If they do that, it becomes imperative to keep Mo. You need to extend him if you're going 4-3, I would think.
