One game suspension for Sheldon

Employers do it all the time. Not just the NFL. I hate the fact that people are fired for a Facebook post. Just don't think that should be allowed. Even though I almost always think what they posted was reprehensible.

Sheldon was first suspended for substance violations, and now it's conduct. We knew this was coming and it should be no surprise.

Facebook has become a window into the soul. Employers use it all the time in backgrounding potential new hires. My employer uses it, and I've been told by people in the hiring process that they've used it to disqualify candidates based on immature and vulgar content posted to their page.

I think it's great. If people are stupid enough to post this kind of stuff for all the world to see, then they've dug their own grave. Facebook and alcohol together provide the truth serum necessary to eliminate potentially bad hires.

Firing someone becomes a little more complicated though.

Unreal behavior. People are sometimes born without brains

Sheldon Richardson is a lucky guy. He admitted as much with his public comments. I don't believe you're a bad person for smoking weed. I just believe your priorities are messed up when you know that smoking will result in suspensions eventually. That hurts the team.

But his actions regarding the crazy speeding, minor involvement, and loaded gun were incomprehensible. He's very lucky to have just gotten one game. Maccagnan could look very bad letting Wilkerson walk, and extending Richardson for 4-6 years. If he gets in more trouble, he's really going to hurt this team. Richardson appears to be the building block they want. He better not screw this up.

We are never going to be able to resign Mo. So Sheldon must step up and take much more of a leadership role. Soon enough the Jets will be without Mo and the next man up reality will be looking Sheldon Richardason right in the face.

" Next man up " refers to a player on the bench having to come into a game to replace an injured starter. Mo and Sheldon are both starters, and thankfully both healthy. Sheldon will not replace Mo if he is injured. Just clearing that up for you

I would bet my life savings he won't.

I wouldn't bet mine the other way. I'm with you. I just hope for the best. Being a Jets fan means different things to different fans, but there is a kind of optimistic pessimism that I think a lot of us share, that really is illustrated well by this situation. I want him to learn. I hope he does. I wouldn't bet on it, but there's always a part of me that believes (with my heart, if not my head) that THIS time, everything is going to work out well, and things are going to go as well as they can.
