Giants also just kicked panthers ass. Panthers are not good. I’m thinking maybe 4 games to gel? With our schedule, not sure we can afford that.
if Tippman is out playing McGovern, that might be good for center at least.

Duane Brown is on the PUP list not expected to be ready for the start of the season but could be wrong.
Laken Tomlinson had nearly a full guaranteed contract so he will be our starting left guard.
Joe Tippmann will be the starting center which means McGovern will likely be the starting right guard
as for starting right tackle we have no one. so platooning two maybe three might be what they have to do to start the season until someone takes the job.
the problem goes back to left tackle, and the only solution is Alijah Vera Tucker.
If Duane Brown is on the PUP list past start of week 1 not game day but what they consider day one of the week which believe it is that Tuesday then he will not be allowed to be a part of the team until week 6 at minimum.
So right now our line as to start at Left Tackle and build from there. Mekhi Becton better step it up and show up against Buccaneers but I am unsure right now.
LG is stamped with Laken because he does not know how to play on the right side, the problem with that is last year he showed he could not do it on the left side that we paid him to be here as he was in Frisco.
McGovern is on a payscale to be guard or backup center, no way we make him the starter after drafting Tippmann.
If we had a viable option at RG would put him in but until we know who is our LT, there is no answer for RG or RT.

Hackett's system is a timing-based offense which needs a Gap Blocking Scheme:
A gap scheme uses leverage to give the offensive linemen an advantage over physically superior defensive linemen. In a gap scheme the offensive linemen on the playside will block down, or away from the gap where the runner is going. This will leave one defender unaccounted for outside of the gap where the ball is going. The offense will pull a lineman from the backside of the play to block this defender out. The result is a hole that develops between the pulling offensive lineman and the down blocks that should combine to form a wall.
Aka reason why we signed Dalvin Cook, to pair with Breece Hall. Add in Mike Carter and both Bam & the rookie will have a better rushing attack.

well we have two rotational guys in Greg Senat & Wes Schweitzer
so back to the starting rotation we need three more starters and Laken & CMG are veteran options this year at Guard which is the smart play to surround a rookie center.

Can Becton take the job or do we hand it to AVT?
If AVT is starting LT, then is CMG the starter at RG?
Will Max or BT step up and take the RT job?
There are two other rookies on the roster; Carter Warrent OT from Pittsburgh & Brent Laing IOL from Deluth Minn. This game week 3 is important because the major reps will be with players to take jobs into the season.
Who will step up?

Can Mad Max prove himself, mentally & physically?
Does BT have anything left in the tank?
Did Mekhi lose overall strength and moxy when losing the weight?

Regarding the bolded, Becton is a horrible fit for a zone scheme. LTs in a zone scheme are typically 330 and lighter and more athletic.

Being on the PUP list in preseason has more to do with being cautious and less to do with the health of the play as opposed to being sidelined during the season.

The zone scheme and Becton was one of the things that I hated about Lafleur.
To offer my $0.02, zone is more popular these days. It really got going when Barry Sanders was with the Lions, and then became hot when the Broncos showed you can succeed with RBs who aren't all-time greats in the late 90s.. The benefit is that it allows linemen to use their leverage and take defenders where their momentum is taking them. Smaller, more athletic linemen can thrive in this scheme, as it utilizes quickness, reach blocks, and getting to the second level. It accounts for twists and stunts. RBs who can read those blocks, have patience, and then can make that one cut and hit the hole can thrive in such a system.

It doesn't require the road grader at RT or G that a true man scheme would, but it also doesn't require the extreme athleticism of zone scheme. The backside, or the side away from which you are running, may have a guard pull. If so, every play side lineman and the C would down block, taking the gap away from the hole being run, and the guard can kick out the first man on or outside that hole. DL who are shaded away from the hole would get picked up by the down block at the point of attack.
