Im sorry, but any of the other guys dont have the potential Bryce brings IMHO. I'am being very realistic with Petty. I'am not saying he's the sure fire answer, but he has every intangible of being something very promising.

Only time will tell my friend.

I still like Mannion, Grayson, and Mariota, but I have zero issue with taking Petty, and taking him where they took him.

His down side is very much Mariota's, inexperience with making progressions because of the system. He's not as athletic as Mariota, but he has a better deep ball.

Taking Petty in the fourth? No brainer.

CMON be realistic...ANY QB drafted guys would have been making a case for them..whether it be Mannion, Carlson, Bennet, Hundley..etc.....

I don't think anyone on this board thinks deep down that Petty is the answer..we all hope someone is...and who knows..but he has just as good shot as Geno at this point....

I liked 3 QBs in this draft,

1. Mariota
2. Petty
3. Garrison

And deep down my gut tells me Petty is the guy. I have been talking about Petty since November. Just saying!!

Also, heard the same stuff about Stephen hill that everyone is saying about smith. by no means is he an answer until he proves it

If Stephen Hill had came into the league behind Marshall and Decker he may have been able to develop. Smith will get that opportunity and be able to contribute doing what he does best. Smith is also a true top 2nd round talent, wheres Hill was a slight reach due to his size/speed combination, and he followed D. Thomas and C. Johnson out of Georgia Tech.

Happy to see him signed yearly. I missed the old days where the coaches could get their hands on these guys as much as they wanted

Then you aren't reading what everyone is saying.

One is 6'3 220lbs soccer player converted into a WR and one is 6'0 185 and was Mr Football for Ohio. Comparing Hill to Smith is like comparing Drew Brees to EJ Manuel...

Excellent interview with NYJETS.com

IMHO, its just a matter of time before this guy is our starter and change this teams bad fortunes at the position.

Me too. Last year at this time, Taj Boyd was a disaster.

Reports are he had a good to great Friday and an awful Saturday. Even his one bad error on Friday was a pick 6 (if Geno had done it, the board would be on fire right now). Like any rookie he'll be up and down during camp. He needs to sit a year whether he or his former coach know it or not.

We'll get a better gauge on Petty at this time next year. Still hoping we're going into camp with Petty vs Hackenburg to start 2016... :)

I see two ways that can happen:

1- The Jets would have to end the season as one of the worst in the NFL and land in the top two picks of 2016. (in which i have a very hard time believing this would occur, unless that is if Fitz gets hurt and Geno starts more than half of the season, then Hack becomes a reality).

2-The other is that Hack or Cook for that matter get injured and teams pass on them thus dropping far enough for us to mortgage a 1st rounder on either of them.

If we land either QB next year i would think our future would be promising at the position, though on the flip side, fans including myself will be up in arms as the season went south. I'am more than sure Woody does not want a repeat of what occurred last season.

Call me nuts, but with the caliber defense we have that will keep this team in games, tacked in a journey man QB in Fitz that can utilize his weapons given his familiarity in Chan's system & can manage the game to not lose, i honestly think this is a 10 win ball club.

I feel Bryce can learn alot from Fitz and also learn from Geno's mistakes. This is definetly his red shirt year.

I don't always (mostly NEVER) agree with HYATT, but he is spot on here. We really arent giving this team enough credit fellas. Hell, we're not even giving Mac credit if we say we're going 8-8.

Think about it fellas, it was an absolute miracle we won 4 games last year with NOTHING. No CB's, Depleted WR's, a complete clueless & incompetent QB and the biggest one is that the team was completely undisciplined with Rex.
This year we have without any doubt a top 3 over all defense. A #1 true receiver. A burner that can stretch the field in Devin Smith. Our O-Line has been shored up. Depth at RB who want to make a name for themselves (Hell New England has been doing this for years already). A QB who knows the system in Fitzpatrick.

This team will not go 6,7,8 or 9 wins. IMHO, This is a team with leaders and young players that do not want to go through what happened the past two seasons. This is atleast a 10 win team. The Jets are built to win right now and are also building for the future.

Petty will learn what it is to study his ass off as a professional under true coaches & Leaders around him and will keep him in line until his number is called. He has that innate abilty to lead and it's bred in him. He will sit and wait his turn, until then this franchise under Maccagnan and Todd Bowles will make sure there is a winning environment that Petty will get used playing in.

This isn't about paying respect or giving credit. This is about predicting what you, as an individual , think the Jets record will be. I say 7-9 for the reasons I listed in my post.

I appreciate your optimism and maybe it comes true. I know this is the time of year every fan thinks their team is a 10 win teAm. I listen to Sirius, the Raiders, Bills, Phins, Browns, Bears, Vikings, Chargers, Texans fans all think they have 10 win teams...some will be right.

I just see a team with all new offensive and defensive systems with first time HCS and DCS that just took over a 4 win team.

Can we get 10 wins? Sure. I think 8 wins is more likely, gives us a draft pick in the mid teens, which puts us in shouting distance of selling the farm for the first NFL pro style qb to come out of the draft in 4 years...

But we will see....

Just hearing Bryce talk is such a breath of fresh air. It seems like the guy's head is completely in it. He wants to succeed more on the field than off of it. Watching video of him in college, players gravitate towards his leadership skills.
I just have this inkling fellas that once he steps onto the field, there will be this aura around the club that once he gets a grasp of this system, he will be the guy.

Definitely looks like he can be ready to step in and take the reins after Ryan Fitzpatrick successfully holds the fort

Couldn't agree more. Listen to his interview from
NY.JETS.COM:(). Completely polar opposite from a "Deer in the headlights" verbatim from Geno Smith. Bryce gets it and its all about football, not hanging out with Jay-Z.

I can't figure out why this guy is such project, and Mariotta is NFL ready. They ran the same type of offense, but I like him throwing more than MM.

I do think that both should be red-shirted this year, but I love where we got him, and think he is going to be awesome!

He drops passes of any distance in perfect spots so often it's truly uncanny. I think you can learn footwork, but I don't think you can learn the ability to hit moving targets the way he does. That's a rare gift!
