If he declared last year you would not have been able to touch him in the 3rd RD. If you go back and look at some of the archived draft rankings on the internet, you'll probably see that most draft sites entered the 2014 season expecting Mauldin to be no worse than an early 2 in this draft, and thats a conservative guess, quite a few probably pegged him as a potential first round pick. This kid entered the 2014 season with people expecting him to have a monster season.
Sorry - I meant "choosing Mauldin in 2014 (last year) or Harold in 2015 (tonight)".
I love your answer and it gives me more hope that the kid can succeed at the next level. Only part that scares me is the eerie similarity to last year's third rounder, who also "would have went much higher if not for . . ."

I posted this in the mac thread and i will post it here but this is my feelings on mauldin
someone said the kid plays faster than his numbers indicate and that seems to be the case i see also looking at him on film.
it's like when they say seabiscuit is not a fast horse riding the track by himself, but if you give him competition he can give you a extra gear.
I think the kid is like that give him some competition and you see a faster mauldin than at the combines. The adversity he has faced in his life he has risen up and defeated is the same ones he needs on the football field.
He says he wants to be the best and i believe him.

Agreed. Those complaining are talking about their draft board, not the jets draft board.
reading more on him this morning (big thanks to ham) i'm liking this pick more. can'ty help but root for the kid. hope they can make good use out of those extra picks. that 5th could come in handy and perhaps a 7th can be used to move up a little elsewhere if someone we like is sitting there.
