My two cents on this, is when people ask would the Patriots have gained a competitive advantage in deflating balls. I would respond look at the tuck rule, deflating makes it less likely to fumble, would a team gain a psychological edge thinking it would be harder to fumble, I do not know if this was what occurred , but I know that people play a lot better if they feel secure.

As I said on Total Access, the Tom Brady appeal letter, put together by the union and Jeffrey Kessler, hinges on four major points ...

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer · 56m56 minutes ago

1) The sanctions are reliant on the Wells Report, which the union feels lacks enough direct evidence to find Brady definitively guilty. ...

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer · 55m55 minutes ago

2) Per the CBA, the PA feels discipline should not be determined by Troy Vincent -- should be Goodell or a hearings officer. ...

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer · 55m55 minutes ago

3) Union argues the punishment is inconsistent with similar transgressions. League would argue this case is unique, with no precedent. ...

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer · 54m54 minutes ago

4) Based on past history between the league and union, the PA argues that a neutral arbitrator is absolutely necessary.

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer · 53m53 minutes ago

... And that's the next step -- Roger Goodell picks an arbitrator, then sets a date (likely to be in June after Greg Hardy's 5/28 hearing).

I don't really know what to say that hasn't been said already. The Patriots must really think that most NFL fans are morons. To offer a rebuttal like this is not only absurd, it's an act of desperation. The fact is that their absurd and desperate efforts are only making their image worse.

I have never liked the Patriots, in fact I can't stand them and their smug attitude. Watching them lose gives me great pleasure. But watching this from a far gives me no pleasure whatsoever. The Patriots should be embarrassed. They should take their punishment and move on. The fact they are going to drag this out does nothing but hurt the game and the league. Own up to it, take your medicine and move on. To NFL fans everywhere, this kind of response insults our intelligence.

I kind of see what you mean. At this point, they are being so ridiculous that they are hurting the sport.

Then again, I think they would gladly irreparably hurt football's image to gain the slightest advantage for the Patriots.

Roger Goodell himself will hear the Brady appeal. Looks like he is finally taking a hard line against the Pats.

Just so you know, some of the headset issues teams have had are coming to the surface.

The deflator was not even talking about footballs when he referred to himself as the deflator, he was talking about his stomach lol, and apparently the Patriots fired him because he went on a diet. Thats what this clown show in NE is selling with their 20,000 word SNL skit disguised as a rebuttal, and the clueless morons in Patsie Homerville will continue to embarrass themselves and promote this LOL HILARIOUS BS the Patriots are selling.

The deflator needs to sue the Patriots for discrimination ... FAT-PHOBIA ... he just became the first man in he NFL who was fired for being overweight, and he can point to a double standard too, they don't fire Nose Tackles!

The sad part is, he was on a diet, in the process of DEFLATING HIMSELF, and the Patriots still fired him.

Bob Kraft is a HATER

I don't know if he hates fat people, dieters, or both, but he's clearly a hater.

Sadly, these pathetic serially cheating assholes own an NFL franchise

MLB had the balls to remove their embarrassment, Marge Schott

The NBA also did re: Donald Sterling

But apparently the NFL lacks the courage to take proper action against the despicable Kraft mob crime family no matter how often and how badly they embarrass the shield and the sport of professional football

There is only one answer

The 31 other owners have to gather and fire Goodell for his biased favoritism and lack of cojones and then take the proper executive and legal actions to remove the Kraft organized crime family from their midst

But Patriots fans think Goodell has to be fired for being too anti-Patriots.

Seriously.

Good let it all come out no brushing stuff under the rug anymore. Players and coaches need to keep kicking them while they are down.

That's what happens, Kraft wants to pout, kick and scream he is being treated unfair, ok. Lets take a look at all the concerns over the years about teams going into foxboro and having "difficulties" with their equipment.
Goodall should remind kraft that although he destroyed the spygate videos, he still remembers what was on them and how bad it really was.

That is it in a nutshell, and if Goodell has a single nut left he will stick it up Kraft's behind in public.

So the Pats say "deflator" refers to dieting? What I want to know is, how do they explain the text from Jastremski to McNally that said this week he was going to give him a big needle (and McNally's responsibilities did not involve the use of a needle), and McNally replied that it "better be surrounded by cash and newkicks." What does any of that have to do with dieting?

Now we'll see if Goodell steps up to the plate and is really focused on preserving the integrity of the game, and backing Troy Vincent and the Wells Report. Or, will he appease Brady and his buddy Kraft. If he sticks to his guns, I would actually be impressed. If he doesn't and overturns the Brady suspension, you know where he stands, and it says that Kraft and Brady run the league.

I'm not a huge fan of Goodell. I don't think he's a great commissioner, but in my opinion he's not the worst either. He has been inconsistent. He needs to be consistent here.

I have to believe that he is smart enough not to buy into the ridiculous and laughable Patriots rebuttal. That was nonsense and everyone knows it. As for Brady, if he reduces the suspension by a game or two, fine. But, he needs to uphold the suspension in some form as a matter of principle. He shouldn't even bother addressing the Patriot penalties.

Then that should be the end of it. The Patriots should just take their medicine and move on. I do like the fact that he decided to hear the appeal himself. If they drag this out, it will be a media circus and bad for the game.

I honestly think one of the reasons that Brady wouldn't turn over the cell phone is that Belichick was somehow involved at least in the coverup.

You know, that makes a ton of sense! Those two are joined at the hip! As long as the league let the question of impropriety linger about this, it stands to reason that they conversed via text or email.

Good thought.

The request for the electronic communications was very narrow in scope. Brady never had to turn over his cell phone. He had to turn over the communications. Lawyers deal with sensitive material and confidential information all the time - data that is far more sensitive frankly than Tom Brady's text messages and emails. The only reason not to turn the information over is because there is something in there that does not paint a favorable picture. If he did nothing wrong, he would have turned over the communications. So let's be clear, Brady never had to turn over this phone physically, just the communications data.
