Now we'll see if Goodell steps up to the plate and is really focused on preserving the integrity of the game, and backing Troy Vincent and the Wells Report. Or, will he appease Brady and his buddy Kraft. If he sticks to his guns, I would actually be impressed. If he doesn't and overturns the Brady suspension, you know where he stands, and it says that Kraft and Brady run the league.
I'm not a huge fan of Goodell. I don't think he's a great commissioner, but in my opinion he's not the worst either. He has been inconsistent. He needs to be consistent here.
I have to believe that he is smart enough not to buy into the ridiculous and laughable Patriots rebuttal. That was nonsense and everyone knows it. As for Brady, if he reduces the suspension by a game or two, fine. But, he needs to uphold the suspension in some form as a matter of principle. He shouldn't even bother addressing the Patriot penalties.
Then that should be the end of it. The Patriots should just take their medicine and move on. I do like the fact that he decided to hear the appeal himself. If they drag this out, it will be a media circus and bad for the game.
