we really do have a very good community here at JFU.. we should all try to do are part to keep things civil..

for the most part, i think we do a good job at that..

as far as i'm concerned, this is the best jet forum i've ever posted on.. i mean the sincerely..

It's a great forum, and it has a tremendous membership. I'm pleased by the nature of the discussions here.

Don't know if you guys are interested if you guys live in NYC.

I want to see if we can get a bunch of us and watch the Bills/Jets Thursday nghter game at either a location in the City or in Long Island.

Me and BVLDbrawler are in.

Dan if I still lived in RiverVale NJ, I would be there in a flash but live in Scottsdale AZ now so it would be a hike.... :global (42):

Seeing BlindsideBrick get attacked based on his screen name was, to me, unnecessary, and it kind of highlighted the cultural divide between the two boards. I disagree with him on a variety of issues, both football and otherwise, but I guess the attack on his name is what prompted my response.
I probably had the fewest 'bannings' of any of the mods at JI, - but I would've given fl a day off for that - it was uncalled for, and he escalated the situation unnecessarily. If that becomes the norm, this will be a place where a dozen or so posters come to argue, and others steer clear shortly after realizing.

The rule of thumb at JI was "attack the post but not the poster" as well, on the main board anyway (things were more lenient in the hampur) - but there became a sort of clique formed with some mods and some posters, and there was some preferential treatment given, sides taken, etc. I also think Sooth made the mistake of naming some mods that were far from moderate, were too passionate to be moderators. What makes someone a great poster doesn't always make them a great moderator. I bet some of them would admit that now that there's some distance.

We had the same rule, basically, about attacking the post and not the poster.

Maybe there is more common ground than we thought. And perhaps we got the best of both worlds to merge here. I will say, in general, I do like this board a lot, both those posters I have known for years and those who I got to know with the merge.

When was that ever the rule at JI?

The rule at JI was no personal attacks unless you were friendly with the mods and a part of the clique, in which case you could attack whoever the F you wanted to attack with the full blessing of the mods, and if their victims complained about, they would be the ones who got banned. Some of us had a problem with that and tried to fix it, to no avail.

Well, you got that part right.

The only thing I would say about that is, don't ever take a Sheriff's position in a lawless town if the Mayor doesn't give you the green light to shoot to kill, and your deputies don't have your back, or worse, conspire with the outlaws to kill you.
