Just saw the news on Decker.
If he comes back this year, great, but when I hear partially torn rotator cuff, I hear season ending injury.
So I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
ENTER ROBBY ANDERSON ... NEXT MAN UP
First, its unfair for anyone to expect this kid to replace Decker's production from a year ago. Decker was probably the best #2 WR in the league last year. You are not replacing those numbers with a rookie UDFA, that is not happening.
That said, I think the emergence of Enunwa as a force in the passing game, combined with Anderson's length and ability to stretch the field as a legit deep threat, and of course provided Brandon Marshall stays healthy as the #1, which now becomes absolutely essential, but I think our passing game should continue to produce at a high level provided Fitz doesn't continue to regress. If the QB stinks then nothing else matters, but if Fitz can regain some semblance of what he was last year, I still think we have the WR's to make a real impact in these games.
Anderson may not have Decker's incredible route running skills and veteran savvy, but he has terrific length and this kid can really fly. I don't know how or why he flew under the radar in the draft, but IMO this kid is the real deal, similar to the UDFA Gem the Giants uncovered some years back with Victor Cruz, and I can see Anderson having a similar impact now that he has his shot, particularly as a BIG PLAY specialist.
