Why would a smart football guy like Mikey Macc ever consider trading the best potential (or maybe second best behind Big Cat) for any reason?

The Jets aren't trading Richardson. Just can't get any where near his market value right now.
If he's still in the league, Richardson will be on the Jets, 2, at the most 3 more years if they Franchise him, then gone.

It depends on what is actually going on with Wilkerson. I'm surprised where this Wilkerson situation has arrived at.
This is just my opinion, but I think the Wilkerson situation was actually decided last year that he would be tagged and traded.
Last year was the time to sign Wilkerson. The Jets had cap money pouring out of their wazool. Paid a lot of people big money. No money for MO.
Here's my take on what went on. The Jets had X amount of money set aside for Wilkerson, which they thought was fair, and fit within their budget. Offered it to him. He declined, the Jets moved on. I think that's what we are going to see from this regime. With the notable exception of Revis IMO when theirFA's are do, make them an offer, if they want more, it's next man up.
Snacks may be in the same category. If it falls like that with both Snacks and Wilkerson leaving, it will leave a little bit of cap space.
As I mentioned in another thread I might start looking for a LT at that point.
