So do you do it? Do you deal him to the Bills, have two top-20 picks, and either trade up for a young franchise QB (if you don't believe in Petty) or revamp the OL?
I think you keep the interior guys, Winters-Mangold-Carpenter. You draft a tackle, and either restructure Brick and cut Breno or you cut Brick, and also look to land Mangold's future replacement. Truth is, though, the OL had a pretty solid season. Fitz had fairly good protection, and the ground game was solid. They were 11th in rushing yards, and the second best in pass pro. Age is a concern, but the performance - by those metrics - was solid.
On DL, you still have Mo-Snacks-Williams, and the depth guys. The Jets could have the best combined trenches in the league with a little work.
tough question, but not really a big decision... only way trading Richardson in division would be this year's 1st plus 2017 conditional (4th that can become a 3rd)...
Bills 19th pick
Our 20th pick
This would give us flexibility to take a weapon with one and possibly stock pile the other
Brick is more than likely gone either by trade/release
Breno is simply gone > replacement could be in house Ben Ijalana whom the coaching staff is really high on
Willie Colon won't be back even if he doesn't retire
I say both Carpenter & Mangold are our only starters worth keeping... Winters/Dozier are quality spot starters but are still raw all around interior linemen...
Free Agents like Brady Sowell, Chris Clark, Brandon Brooks, Ben Jones, Bobbie Massie, Lyle Sendlien, Ted Larsen are all possible targets this off season... Wouldn't put it past Maccagnan to try to trade for RFA LT Jeff Adams from the Texans...
On the D Line, Mo - Snacks - Williams are a solid trio add in return of Douzable, maybe we can target ex-Dolphins that Bowles & Rodgers coached in Derrick Shelby and/or Olivier Vernon who could really stack our front 7...
There is a number of key moves that can be made in free agency that will determine how or what we need in the draft...
I would still draft Corey Coleman, WR from Baylor with one of those two first picks and depending on how the big board is laid out then would consider drafting Landon Turner who has been climbing the boards now a mid 2nd round prospect... Probably one of thee best guards in the draft... But would hope they trade back and stock pile... Still acquire Turner and acquire Tackle Kyle Murphy with our 2nd round pick sewing up the line with talent that doesn't need to be implemented immediately...
But that is me... Figure with Richardson's court date soon and ruling he is probably facing league suspension of anywhere 4 games to 10 games next season... He is a great talent but off the field has me selling high as long as we can get it...
And yes I am a Petty backer, think he has what it takes to be that guy... But no need to rush him unless Fitz starts to falter next season... I would consider day 3 of the draft to grab an additional prospect QB, could develop him to be that backup or competitor for Petty... Competition only makes players better no matter what round they are drafted in...
