The Walking Dead "Remember" Episode Discussion (SPOILERS!)

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched tonight's episode of The Walking Dead, don't read any further!

"Remember" found our group of survivors within the gated community of Alexandria. Much of the group is weary of their new surroundings but after some investigating they begin to acclimate themselves to the possibility of living out their rest of their days in normality. There also seemed to be a renewed sense of hope for most (but not all) of our survivors. The last time the group felt optimistic about their future was during the prison season prior to meeting the governor. I must admit though that seeing the group in a suburban setting was so weird for me as a viewer because I'm so used to watching them living in unsanitary and unsafe conditions.

The crew at Alexandria seems almost too good to be true in my opinion. I mean, the leader, Deanna, used to be a congresswoman prior to the apocalypse and we all know how trustworthy politicians can be. Deanna tried really hard to convince Rick and the rest of the survivors to join the community and at times came off way too strong.

I really liked how Deanna made a big deal about the importance of remembering who you were pre-zombie apocalypse because "it mattered," despite Rick's objections that it didn't. This came to a head at at the end of the episode when she named him and Michonne co-constables of the community. This really brought me full circle and harkened the old Rick from the first season. I was happy to see him back in police uniform (and SANS the beard). I also really liked how Carol was acting clumsy and was blatantly lying during her recorded interview with Deanna. This, coupled with Daryl's refusal to shower, and Rick and Michonne unable to get comfortable enough to fall asleep, shows that they still cannot fully trust these strangers.

This brings me to my last point, I think that Alexandria is going to be different than Woodbury and Terminus because how many despicable people can Rick and Co. possibly encounter in this world. It would be too unbelievable if the writers went down that road. The missing gun throws me off though but I think that's the point. It must be a red herring that the writers are using to make us think that the people from Alexandria aren't who they say they are BUT I truly believe the real threat is yet to be seen and will probably come from outside.

Best line of the night, hands down goes to Daryl who after seeing Carol in her new outfit - "you look ridiculous," a thought that I'm sure we all had upon seeing her new getup.

R.I.P. Rick's Beard, Seasons 3-5 Walker 2

What are your thoughts on tonight's The Walking Dead?

daryl's "we brought dinner," sasha's kill & rick's "it's a good thing we're here.." just like last week i was hooked before the opening credits rolled..

the group's reaction to ASZ felt grounded in reality.. deanna seemed quite believable but she's is a former politician.. carol playing the role of "defenceless little ol me" was cute.. carl has literally grown up in front of our eyes.. glenn is officially a bad ass again.. i bought everyone's reaction to alexandria..

back to back great episodes.. season 5 is on its was to passing season 2 as my favorite..

You know that group called the " wolves " or whatever that was written on the wall is coming to town. They must be the group that wiped out Noah's town ,chopped up all those deadheads in half ,and left them all around...whats up with that!! Zombie HIt

jetgreen13 - I must say that season 5 is shaping up to be in my opinion the best season to date because it's been one shock after another and even when there isn't much action going on there's so much character development. P.S. I love this version of Glenn!

Bigmoe - I definitely think that there is a connection between those severed zombies in the woods and the decimation of Noah's town. Rick and company won't have to worry about the people within the Alexandria community when there's an obvious outside threat looming. I also think that the missing gun wasn't taken by those in Alexandria but by someone from this outside group. I guess Rick was right when he was talking to Deanna about being careful of who they let in. P.S. Daryl and Carol should get their own comedy show.

LOLz rick is officially not playing anymore!! season one rick wouldn't take over someone community but season five rick damn sure would/will.. its what made "it's a good thing we're here" such a powerful line before the opening credits rolled.. the look he shot aaron was absolutely one of "there's a really good chance you will be reporting directly to me if need be.."

the dynamic of right & wrong simply doesn't exist anymore.. & yeah, i'm really liking the was their writing glenn now.. he's officially a bad ass!!

& season 5 is on pace to be my favorite as well..

i actually saw this episode. First one I paid attention to from start to finish. It was real good despite me missing a ton of episodes. Something's a bit off about the psychiatrist. Like Rick said, everyone has a motive to doing something. I wonder what is hers.

She's really not a psychiatrist , just plays one as the head of the ASZ. She gets to,interview possible new inductees to the community
Deanna is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives or so her story goes. She says she can" read" people, so far she has no idea who she has let in to her camp. You really should watch all the episodes from the beginning to get the real feel of all the characters and what they have gone thru. Netflix binge. WalkerWalker 2Walker

If they are following the storyline from the comics than the new villain should show up real soon. I'm pretty sure the villain will be connected to the severed zombie bodies in the woods AND is way more evil than any previous villain.

Hey, jetgreen13 at first I thought damn who is this Rick and why is he sounding like a villain? He actually reminded me of how the governor was when he was at Woodbury, but I had a conversation with one of my co-workers and he made me look at Rick and the Alexandria situation from a different perspective. Rick is a survivor and he has been through a lot and is willing to do whatever he has to in order to protect his family. With that said, Rick knows that Deanna and the people in her community would never survive outside of those walls and by taking in people she's risking everyone safety so Rick knows that that has to change and if the only way to do so is by taking it, that is what has to happen...

after rick tells daryl & carol that they'll take over alexandria if need be, he briefly flashes a sinister look before reestablishing eye contact with them.. it was subtle but definite..

that said, i was still stunned rick said it.. but he certainly did give deanna fair warning about letting strangers into alexandria.. & that was the first time in my eyes rick looked untrustworthy.. wild eyed.. preditorial.. he might not be the governor (at least not yet) but there's no question in my mind he will kill to protect the group & alexandria.. period..

oh & it didn't take any convincing for daryl & carol to be onboard, BTW..

did rick not tell michonne about his feelings yet because he's worried she may need some convincing??
